Brake disc suppliers

Post by New Duke »

I need new brake discs and my usual supplier of Mintex discs (ACP) on eBay has run out. I usually avoid other eBay sellers to avoid fakes and I want a proper warranty. So advice on places with stock welcome. I don't care what brand the discs are so long as they aren't drilled... or Borg & Beck.

I've tried Mazda, but they charge upwards of 500 quid for a full set.

MTEC are out of stock.

EBCbrakesdirect are out of stock.

ECP want £250 for 4 PAGID discs, which is too much for discs made by TMD Friction imo.

Racing Beat have some for a very reasonable price, but there's no info on who manufactures these:
https://www.racingbeateurope.com/mazda- ... 1443-p.asp

Merlin Motorsport don't sell discs, only pads.

Any other suggestions or trusted sellers?

Give Clive at Racing Beat a call. I'm sure he can put your mind at rest re the supplier/quality of the discs. There is no way he's going to be selling anything that he wouldn't be happy to use on his own car.

Im so glad I paid 40 quid for my rear pagids.. The next day that deal was gone! £250 seems too much though.. Should be like £150 for a full set with a discount code!

I'd have no problem buying these unless you wanted anything fancy.

The other supplier I've used in the past is FreakyParts - their discs are great and come in a variety of fits and finishes to suit all tastes.

That’s hilarious as they are the same group as ECP and probably in the same warehouse!

Exactly the same warehouse, just that CP4L only lists items in stock while ECP also lists items that have to be called in from suppliers.

I had this with the Octavia brakes, where the pads took nearly 2 weeks to arrive from ECP but the discs arrived in 2 days from CP4L. The discount code from ECP was higher @ 40% rather than 20%, but the base price from CP4L was much lower to start with.

The Pagid brand is now unique to the ECP/CP4L group of companies.

Yep, I find this alot. It ALWAYS pays to see what the discount codes are between the two. The Exedy RX8 clutch was £270 from CP4L or it worked out at £360 from ECP...

Once upon a time as with filters before Sogefi grew there were numerous manufacturers of friction material and each range was unique and made in separate factories. Now with friction we have https://tmdfriction.com/automechanika-2 ... portfolio/ which was itself swallowed up by the Nishimbo group so potentially ultimately all the separate brands may exist in name only whilst the contents will probably morph into the same product in the box regardless of brand.
