Hello everyone,
Whats a good coil-over upgrade for the rx8 that offers damping adjustment for good ride quality and just general car compliance over bumps/poor roads?Which would work best alongside the racing beat antiroll bars
Thanks
Toby

Re: Coilovers for RX8?
There will be many opinions on coilovers.
I have Tein Monosport and think they are great.

Re: Coilovers for RX8?
Just for some context, my car has the eibach lowering springs with standard dampers, arbs and goodyear f1 supersport tyres, and the ride is borderline with this setup, was just wondering if coilovers would make a difference.

Depending on budget
at the lower end Even the Tein street are decent.
Had mine second hand
Compliant on the road and on track.
I’ve been on them for around 20 or so trackdays and they were on the car for road use also.
So they are lasting well.
Probably a lot better makes out there but I probably wouldn’t go any quicker around the track with Ohlins

Re: Coilovers for RX8?
Hi
I have bc coilovers they are good quality, probably a bit harsh on poor roads .very good on smooth roads and the track.
The problem with recommending coilovers is everyone wants different things from them, first thing is budget and work from there and how much track use they will get.

Re: Coilovers for RX8?
I've had a ride on HSD Monopro's in my R3 from the previous owner, and they feel very solid (as in good hah!). Admittedly i can't say much more about them as i've had to swap them out, but i think from what i've seen, Tein Basis and Tein Flex alongside the HSDs seem to be the most common. It's really hard to justify one over the other, the best way is to likely try and get a test drive on some of them? Most coilovers are going to be harsher rides regardless as soon as you hit bumps, but that's a given with them i guess.

Re: Coilovers for RX8?
Tein Monosports here too with racing beat front and rear bar's. The damping can be set really soft if you really want with these, but you will want to take speed bumps very slow if you go full soft.

Tein monosports on mine as well. Had a direct comparison when also owned an R3 and with the Tein’s set have way they were approx the same as standard R3 or PZ suspension. However the springs are much stiffer so less compliant.

I ram Meistersinger on a previous car and now have TEIN Monosports which are a harsher ride. I have the EDFC electronic damping control system which makes adjustment from the drivers seat simple. The Meisters can be fitted with adjustment extenders for the rears which simply stick though the fibre arch liners.
