Flat Battery and Flooding

Post by Dan123 »

Well I was a bit lazy - lesson learnt.

Battery in the car probably isn't the best, is a halfords special and was in there when I got the car. I can't remember the last time I used the car, I thought it was 4 weeks but thinking about it properly it must have been at least 8, the weeks seem to merge into each other.

Last week went to start it and not enough juice in it to get it going and to top it all off I flooded the engine as well... I knew from the smell! Once again the forum comes up trumps, took me 5mins of reading and found a link to Essex Rotary de-flood guide.. worked like a charm. Thanks forum!

Anyway trickle charger is now here, where is the best place to connect the negative lead?

Are the Varta batteries still a decent / go to choice? Or is there something better?

As an OC member you get discount on the Tayna website,
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=22857
it might be worth giving them a call and see if they can do better than that ebay price

I would recommend the Varta battery :thumleft:

Also, I just wazz the trickle charger on the terminals, personally. Never had any issues from doing so.

And, if possible (should you ever flood it again) a tow start is the easiest and quickest way to get it going again - works like a 2000rpm starter lol
