SY09 VKM - White R3 - anyone here?

Post by Naz »

Hello all. Not sure where else to put this question but there's a car a friend could possibly be interested in.

White R3 reg SY09 VKM. Thought it best to check if the owner (or previous owner) is here to provide any history?

Thanks for your help.

Hi Naz :salut: I've moved your post, I think more people are likely to see it here. The owner/previous owner hasn't listed it in the members' number plates thread.

Yes it is quite special - Crystal White Pearl is the full name iirc - only ever produced on the 40th Anniversary and R3 in the UK so just a few hundred cars. Well done on your purchase , nice low mileage on that one so good it's gone to a caring owner (I assume :) )

So it is! Sorry Freddie - I hadn't added you to the main list at the time I checked!

Hah - what a coincidence. I guess my friend is no longer looking at this car.

Good luck on the purchase - looked like a nice one.

On that note - anyone got a decent R3 with low mileage they want to sell?

When I spoke to an agent for Terraclean a few years ago they said they were not sure so wouldn't be happy doing it.
Had my x-trail done tho and the difference was noticable

The pieces of carbon probs do less harm in situ than they would being scraped around your irons by your apex and side seals, but you might get lucky and they'll fly straight out of the exhaust ports. Or the treatment could be total snake oil and will have done nothing other than dislodge cash from your wallet.

Idling a rotary for 1/2 hour doesn't sound like a good idea to me.

TerraClean is a unique technology process which is highly effective in removing the carbon deposits which build up in any internal combustion engine. The brand TerraClean is applied to both the equipment and the chemicals used.
What type of vehicles can be TerraCleaned? We can TerraClean most vehicles; Motorcycles, Cars, Vans,Trucks, Agricultural, Plant and Machinery. Fuel injected vehicles – Port and Direct injection and carburettor vehicles are all capable of being TerraCleaned.
Are there any vehicles you do notTerraClean? We can TerraClean nearly all combustion engines with the exception of the Mazda Rotary Wankle engine and 2- stroke engines that do NOT have an independent oil supply i.e. not pre-mix engines.

Indeed Dave. That's why the owners manual says not to let the car idle for longer than 10 mins. Always read the instructions are words to live by.

That aside Freddie, I hope that you enjoyed the experience and got some piece of mind. Plenty of us do things to our cars that are fun, even if they don't do it any favours.

Strewth....what a can of worms this has opened! It would seem that a Terraclean session could dislodge the "wrong carbon" around the apex seals leading to lower compression. Also, of course, the seconday air valve opens at 6000rpm, so thats a nono for carbon cleaning. There seems to be no conclusive evidence as to why the extended idle is a bad thing, as always, so many opinions! I noticed ablolutely no change when i drove Freddy after the clean, and wouldnt do it again.

Whilst im here....best 2stroke oil?
