Suzuki SX4
Is this a quick car ? Or is there a version of this car that is quick ? Or has some remapping potential ?
I saw one on the motorway and it was pretty quick. It certainly did not look like it would be on first impression and look like a bog standard mid-sized crossover car with no indication otherwise. Googling it doesn't seem to indicate it's a sleeper car either.
I was pretty surprised at how hard I had to work to keep up with it if I was in the wrong gear.

Re: Suzuki SX4
Ha ha I would have said that as well. But this thing was having a play with a golf R when I first encountered it. Eventually the golf R gave up and let it past. I thought ok that golf R driver must have been crap or something cos how could they be defeated by this car....shroom wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 9:12 pmHang your head in shamev-rex wrote:Is this a quick car ? After a few other cars, including a Porsche Cayenne all relenting I thought WTF ? !! What is this car ? I could pull up on it if I was ready in the right gear when it started accelerating but it certainly was surprisingly quick !! I looked to see any badges on the back to see if it was some sort of special edition but saw nothing.

Re: Suzuki SX4
When I went to Rockingham for a track day there was a Skoda Yeti which had been transplanted over a suped up audi quatro platform. The thing killed everything in its path but looked like an old granny wagon. I guess there is some enjoyment from showing others up in a seemingly boring car however you will have to constantly explain it to everyone and not many will understand why you spent so much on a sh1t boxv-rex wrote:Ha ha I would have said that as well. Re: Suzuki SX4
Non-rotary friend: So how much did you spend on your rebuild?
Me: ££££ k
Non-rotary friend: That's pretty good. Normally rebuilds cost at least twice that for BMW/Merc/Audi rebuilds. How much is your car worth now after the rebuild?
Me: £ k
Non-rotary friend : (Silence)

We had a 3.0V6 Ford Galaxy. With all but the front seats removed it was a better power:weight than a Mondeo ST and handled way better than you'd expect

Re: Suzuki SX4
Yes those nor the galaxy version in top spec are slow. I learned that one early on ( i think actually when i had my 200sx before the rx8 ) so they don't surprise me anymore.
Also Volvo T5's. Yup got schooled on that sneaky beast early on as well....

Mrs H's Godmother has a Perodua Kenari (Google it and then immediately regret doing so). I have her under oath that if she ever decides to get rid I get first dibs so I can put something suitably ridiculous into the engine bay. The thing is a hoot and more power will only make it more hilarious.

Re: Suzuki SX4
Ours in no way can be described as fast so not sure what model or mods the one you saw had. It does however have a graph which shows you MPG that makes you giggle, after completing the same journey in the 8.

Re: Suzuki SX4
If you can, try and find a picture of it it with someone standing next to it. It's so TEEENSY TINY and weighs less than 900kg. Having someone in the back noticeably changes the handling characteristics.v-rex wrote: ↑Mon Sep 21, 2020 10:34 pmWow. Re: Suzuki SX4
Yes this definitely wasn't the latest model so I thought there must have been some special model in between that was souped up. Couldn't see any badges on it though.
Yes, RX8 MPG is best not looked at. Ever. If I have any long journeys to do in the rex I always Google shell stations en route. With my cx5 I don't think i even bother to look at the petrol gauge until it says low and then there's no real rush to get to a station. I've suffered real anxiety when I've hit the yellow light on the rx8 and a station is more than a few miles away!

Re: Suzuki SX4
One advantage of having a 3.7L V6 Jeep, it makes the Rex seem economical

Re: Suzuki SX4
Right way to do it. We have taken ours on several 1.5-2k road trips round Europe. Same routine every day = SSS, breakfast, fling a credit card at some local rubbing their hands together behind the counter of the petrol station closest to the hotel ....

My dad's missus has one and he's told me repeatedly that it's one of the worst cars he's ever driven. Bear in mind he's a panel beater and has collected many a car in his time - he's driven some right s*** boxes.

Yeah. Given what the car looked like outside, it definitely did not give the impression of being a driver's car.thejaydogg wrote: ↑Tue Sep 22, 2020 1:03 amMy dad's missus has one and he's told me repeatedly that it's one of the worst cars he's ever driven.
