Power Steering issues

Post by Keke »

I've done everything that has been suggested on here from what i can find, but wondering if you have any more suggestions.
While the car is sorn, around 6 months ago i replaces the UJ, and the job seemed to go reasonably well.
Roll on yesterday after almost a year without being driven i took a day off work to give it some love.
Gave it a oil change, new plugs and battery, it started strong and on the money.
But the steering light was on, was hoping it would disappear, but no.
Checked and cleaned the earth, cleaned the connection on the rack.
Am i missing anything?.
Its not a coincidence im sure, as it was fine before i replaced the UJ.
On start up, the steering squib sounded a bit crunchy when doing the lock to lock for the traction.
Any suggestions much appreciated!

It might go away on its own, if the battery is low then the first thing the ecu does is cut the power to the steering .

Have you done the lock to lock with the engine running and then restarted engine after.
