Bridgeport hesitation 4-5k

Post by osman »

Hi,

Got my car bridgeported and now once the car is warm it's showing hesitation 4-5krpm range on depending on gear on light acceleration
Have changed the vacuum hoses, maf cleaned, ess cleaned and reset
Wondering if this is normal behaviour from a Bridgeport ? Fuel trims 2.3% ltft

Any help appreciated

Then they didn't tune it. A proper tune isn't finished if it's lumpy up the rev range. Get them to do it again.

Aem?
I've checked all the mesh screens and cleaned the maf
The hesitation isn't apparent on full throttle or 1/3 throttle

So the ssv opens at around 4.5k if your full throttle do you notice the hesitation? Or is it only on light throttle?

Only on 50% throttle, if im very lightly going through rev range nothing happens
Also if I'm doing a stand still rev no hesitation only when in gear

Has the engine always done this since you got it back or has it recently started?
If you are within your warranty period, or even if not, have you been in contact with RR as the builders and mappers of the engine. I am presuming that they fitted the engine and mapped it to suit the bridge port so ifif you have any cincerned they should be your first point of contact.

They've said it's normal bridgeport behaviour, something to do with vacuum
Just wondering if any other bridgeport owners experienced it

When I had my Bridgeport engine it was very smooth throughout the rev range.

None whatsoever.
I’m sure others who have current Bridgeport’s will add their info.

not all bridgeports are created equal though
so perhaps the RR bridgeport is a bit more wild than others?
do you have the Torque app so you can take a data log when this hesitation occurs? as I bet you'll see the engine going lean when it happens

Just going to add, at one point my ssv was full of crap or something, and my car was getting up to just over 4k easily, then revving very slowly up to about 6k, and then went quickly again to the redline. The ssv was cleaned by a Mazda dealer and all was good again.

Mine was my original engine so not bridgeported, and I assume your SSV would have been cleaned when you did your rebuild so i think its highly unlikely in your case, but I'll just put it out there in case it triggers any other ideas to troubleshoot.

Forscan would be better, you can scan all engine PID's

Video of what's happening
Bit of a blast from the past I know, but I've seen a few people mention this lately and the talk is of bridgeporting. Mine has done this for a long time and I haven't had a rebuild or any porting...

Did you ever get to the bottom of it?
