Re: Pz center cap interest?
Look what's come out of the oven!.
The R&D continues!
Im onto method number 3,
These have had a quick bake just for the glue and the carbon to settle.
The carbon cloth isn't exactly like the originals, so I'm continuing the hunt for the exact, because I want these to be a perfect match.
Ive already spent a decent amount of money time and money, but i think it will be worth it (hopefully!)
I think I will have it cracked in the next couple of weeks.
This might shock people, ive thought long and hard about price, so ive settled on £140 a set,
The parts involved are surprising costly considering,
Actually using OZ centre caps!.
But I think its a bargain considering the amount of time that goes into them.
You can either buy a full set of used, faded, horrible set off ebay, or it's half the price of the new ones off ebay.
I won't take any orders until I'm happy with what ive produced, but please show your interest , as the more of you that want them the more there is a chance of price drop!

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Ok just to confirm £140 for four right? So £35 each? Sounds good to me. I'm definite for 4 dependent on you getting the carbon to match.
I'll probably want more for spares. Just thinking how many more. Is this something that can be done anytime ie if I find I've lost some and need some more ? Or will it be group buy style one shot? Thanks!

Ideally I would set up a group buy, but these are basically hand made indervidually, so answer to question is I would make a big batch to order, as the decals and center caps on their own cost a fair amount, but im sure I'll make some spares.

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Ok I'll go for 6 caps, giving me a couple spare. If they look like the originals but don't delaminate etc then more than worth it imo. Good luck with the prototyping!
Don't know too much about yachts, only Sunseeker as they had a showroom near where I worked, but I see spirit yachts gets very good prose so I am sure the workmanship will be top notch.

Re: Pz center cap interest?
It is!, I im just showing how close the carbon cloth is to the original.
in my previous attempts, I was not happy with the Carbon cloth I used, as It wasn't the exact weave, but what I've just bought, im really happy with

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Oh I was joking. I thought they were the new reproduction ones. Lol.
Certainly looks like a lot of care and attention to the end product so I'm looking forward to seeing them!

Well I wasn't sure! So I thought I'd be more clear.
Fingers crossed I the next post will be with what I've made, and i can start posting them out.
I think these will add value to any set of oz wheels With faded or missing caps.
Its all about keeping our rx8's in prime condition

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Definitely. I have mine but they are faded and looking forward to putting your new ones on. Think they really make a difference to the PZ alloys.

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Almost there!
Ill have 3 sets for sale very soon, although I've lost one of the decals , so set 3 is 1 short, but will be sorted.
I also have 2 sets of practice sets which have a smaller weave, still look good , but not as close to the original. these will be at a discounted price. Either have them clear coated or pay extra to have decals applied and respayed if your happy with the weave.
Once I'm happy to send these first sets out, i will set up a group buy if there is enough intrest.
Thanks for looking.

I don't mind the smaller weave of the practice ones as long as all 4 look the same and have the decals.

Re: Pz center cap interest?
First coat of lacquer.
Pictures will show the difference in weave.
And a note, these caps are resin rich, so they really show off the strands of carbon.
The originals pop alot less, so be aware of this when comparing these against original, as basically they stuck a piece of plastic on them, appose to lacquering them as I have.

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Thought I'd give them another clear coat, just because,,.
These will be in the selling section in the next day or two.
Then I will be starting a group buy.
There will be a few options to choose from.

Re: Pz center cap interest?
Good choice on the lacquer. I know the plastic layer peeling off on the originals was one of the reasons why they looked so duff after a little while.
Looking very good.

Hi, are you still doing these? I’ve just bought a p.z alloys are fresh let down only by the caps being faded
