Where do you get your parts from?

Post by CarlW »

Hi,

So I'm looking to get plugs, leads and coil pack. But I don't know where to get them from.

I've looked at the likes of Essex Rotary, Mazda rotary parts, rotary revs etc but not sure who to go with as the price can vary quite a bit for the same thing.

Any suggestions and experiences?

Many thanks.

Any of those suppliers you mentioned are fine, plus other rotary specialists, but much caution is required if you purchase via an eBay supplier!
Essex Rotary Full Bridgeport
Seibon Carbon Fibre Bonnet, "Racing Brake" front calipers, Racing Beat (RB) ARB's F&R, RB REVI intake, full RB Stainless Steel Exhaust & Mani, 20mm Eibach spacers, KOYO Ali Rad, Lightened Fly, Tein MonoFlex coilovers & strut brace, Axial short-shifter, BHR Coils & Engine Mounts, Greddy Sump
Federal 595RS-R or Rainsport 3

Spark plugs - Andy at JP4mance - circa £75
OEM Coils - Japan Parts (takes a few weeks) - Circa £250 after import tax
Leads - found an unused set on eBay but MRP look to be good value at about £63

MRP do a special deal on the HT leads if you buy them with the coils.
Even better if you get coils, leads & plugs as a pack

Definitely won't be getting them from ebay or amazon.

Yes, just looked at that deal. With vat they are slightly cheaper than Essex.

I'll be replacing all because I have no idea if or when they were last done.

All my general service bits I always get from ebay.

I got my plugs from ebay, they seem to be fine. Done trackdays with them and nothing has broken ;)

Coils and leads I got off ebay, but was a trusted seller, just made the purchasing easier that way.

I need some plugs and JP4mance seem competitive via eBay. Any experience with them as I hear horror stories of eBay traders and fake products?
Thanks Steve

It’s a gamble
I don’t understand how a set Of same plugs can range from 80-130 quid
I can only assume that the £130 set from MRP* would be the safer bet
However , many have bought from the site you mentioned and never had problem .
Typical, expensive plugs so the copiers have latched on to it .
Sorry I can’t be any more help ImageImageImage

I buy from JP4mance , have a set just arrived if you want pics to assess for yourself ( I wouldn’t be able to tell a fake from the real deal tbh). I have never had issues with plugs bought from there.

My plugs also came from Jp4mance. No issues here and they are 100% genuine ngks.

Thanks for everyone who has replied.
I must admit I bought my last plugs from JP4Mance and they've never given any issues (over ahem 22000 miles - I know #-o ) but it's good to have the opinion of others.
I do share the concerns that there is a big price differential between suppliers (Checked 5 suppliers and it ranges from £81.95 to £125)..

Cheers

The last set of plugs I bought were from the Green Sparkplug Company, mainly because everyone else I trusted was out-of-stock [-X
https://www.gsparkplug.com/ignition/spa ... 1031874415

They did me a better deal than you see there, as I've been buying plugs for my Alfa and other vehicles from them for over 30 years, even so, their list price of £100 for the set puts them in the middle of the range, especially as they don't charge any extra for delivery to NI - unlike many suppliers :x [-X

I just ordered some 5w-30 Triple QX semi synth for my upcoming Avensis service for £13.50 for 5 litres from Car Parts 4 Less (part of Euro Car Parts) I use the same in my RX-8.
I noticed that a set of four plugs is £91, I'll need a set for my next service in a couple of months, I may order from there.
Needs "BIG22" sale code this week. Free delivery, I find they usually send by DHL and get in couple of days.
I generally find ECP/CarParts4Less good value with sale codes, although the reg look up part recommendations sometimes need a double check and their coils and leads is a gamble I wouldn't take.

My first Rx8 mistake, 400nmile round trip to 4 different euro car parts for Hass coils at £80 odd quid each. Could have saved so much if I'd joined the club 18 hours earlier!

Still better than the totally unmarked ones made of paper that came off the car when I bought it.
