My rear bumper was repaired by my (old) insurer last year after being rear-ended. They glued one part back together and at the time I wasn't happy about it. I looked today and unsurprisingly the glue has come away.
I'd like to fix it myself. Does any one know what the snapped part below is? It looks like a mount for the rear fog light, with an anchor to the car to support the weight of the light. It's the anchor arm that is broken. It looks like the whole part can be unscrewed from the bumper once the fog light holder is off. So I'm hoping that whatever it is, I can get a replacement part from Mazda and that it's not counted as an integral part of the bumper.
I had a look at the EPC and workshop manual but couldn't find any reference to it. So would appreciate any advice.

Re: Rear fog light mount?
It is and you're right that they should be the ones to sort it. But I don't want the same repairer touching the car again, and they are who the insurer passed liability too. I had a fight with the insurer about that last year and ended up moving at renewal time. At this point I'd much rather pay for it out of my own pocket and do it properly myself.
If need be I'll buy a used bumper and transplant the part, if it isn't available as a separate part.
Then it would be really handy to know if the mount is the same on the S1, or if I'd need an R3 bumper.

A photo from a distance would perhaps help identify the part more clearly. It should be repairable with a strong epoxy such as JB Weld after a good clean. You may also consider adding a small plate across the joint for extra strength.

You could buy that complete bumper section, it's #F189-50-321B-16 @ £110 plus VAT, pre-painted in Sparking Black, or find one from a breaker.
It is unique to the S2/R3.
However, I would go with the repair option, either bonding and/or fixing with stainless self-tappers.

Re: Rear fog light mount?
Thank you so much for looking that part up Dave. Really appreciate it. For a pre-painted section I think that's quite reasonable. I'll call up the dealer and ask what the availability is. That section has been hit and repaired twice (once in my ownership and once with a previous owner) so I'd quite like to replace it for piece of mind... I just assumed that section to be more expensive and come unpainted.warpc0il wrote: ↑Sat Jul 25, 2020 12:26 pmYou could buy that complete bumper section, it's #F189-50-321B-16 @ £110 plus VAT, pre-painted in Sparking Black, or find one from a breaker.

So it would ironically have been cheaper for the repairer last year to replace that section (as they had told me they would when I agreed to the repair), than the £700 they billed my insurer to bond and respray just that section.
It's a plastic part that's snapped. I'll try bonding it. I just forsee it coming apart again like the repair from last year has. I didn't even realise you can put self tappers into plastic so it's another learning day!
Either way I've probably got to take the bumper off to do it properly. (grumble grumble )

Re: Rear fog light mount?
The separate bumper section that Dave has mentioned doesn't carry the foglight..the broken part is actually on the main bumper body..
