Mintex 1155 pads supplier

Post by New Duke »

Does anyone have or know a reputable supplier of Mintex 1155 pads? I'd rather try somewhere known before risking eBay fakes.

Our supplier has no 1155 compound in stock but there is stock of 1144 compound. Are you sure 1155 compound is suitable for your type of use?
To secure the best prices I would need to order c20 sets, however for lower quantities I can source the 1144 compound pads as below;

Front MDB2589 1144 £110 delivered
Rear MDB2588 1144 £ 75 delivered

A chunk higher than the previous group buy but still hopefully the best price around.

i'm sure a small error but i have the fronts as 2589 and rears as 2588. BTW i can supply these much cheaper, looking about £95 front & £65 rear delivered for single sets but can obviously do better for more.

1144 is a much better road compound. 1155 is more of a track pad.

Thanks for pointing out the typo, every record I have is 2589 front and 2588 so just a slip the finger in the post but could have had major implications down the line so thanks again.
Clearly the one off set pricing I have for the club is not as good as your buying price therefore in this case You will have the business.

Thanks a lot for doing that Chris. Yeah I want to try either 1155 or Blue Stuff. I'm sure it's down to my technique of leaning too heavily on the brakes on track, but I want a pad that can tolerate higher temps for longer. Fergus suggested that I try the 1155 last year, but I wanted to try the 1144 first. Snetterton on Wednesday made up my mind. It was a hot day and the pads were the limiting factor (closely followed by the tyres, gearbox and engine temps!):

Blue Stuff seem from online chatter to handle high temps well and are very cheap from EBC with the club discount.

1144 is a much better road compound. 1155 is more of a track pad.
I agree however for those doing mainly road use with the occasional track day then 1144 compound is the best choice. 1155 is certainly a more Motorsport focussed pad and will work well at the higher temperatures encountered in track or rally driving but the downside can be that with light use such as normal road driving squeal can develop.
The above us based on numerous forums comments and Mintex tech sheets I have read. Personally I use the 1144 on track and road and find it an ideal compound.

Just my 2 pennys worth...
I did a brand new set of 1155s to the metal at Cadwell. 8 sessions on track. 4pm on the trailer. Brake dust everywhere. Proper break in followed previous day. Comparable braking to the ferrodo ds2500 and ebc rp1.
I get 3 days out of rp1 and ds2500. Mightily disappointed with the 1155.
This was for a 300mm wilwood midilite set up not 8 though.
