GReddy turbo conversion
Hypothetically, I've seen that you dont need to buy a standalone ecu for turbo builds now, and that versatune can be used, does this need to be done by a specialist or can a novice do this? Does anyone know if theres a base map as well? Thanks

GReddy turbo conversion
Not sure on verostune but I’m pretty sure that the Mazda edit version is a map that is developed in bits and copied rather than live mapped ...Davemitch wrote:Hypothetically, I've seen that you dont need to buy a standalone ecu for turbo builds now, and that versatune can be used, does this need to be done by a specialist or can a novice do this? Re: GReddy turbo conversion
That's interesting, so it needs to go to specialist so really would need assembling there as well so they could map it too? Or is remote mapping an option for turbo applications too? I wonder what price is in comparison to buying an adaptronic? Lol

Re: GReddy turbo conversion
I'm presuming that you have read about the results or lack of them people normally get with a greddy conversion?
what turbo are you planning to use
and I'd say Mazda edit is the way to go to keep all the stock car functionality

Model of turbo is T618Z. Purely investigation at the moment but I may have my hands on a conversion kit and wanted to know more first lol

Re: GReddy turbo conversion
The Mazda ECU does have its limits to mapping.
But to get the absolute best out of the Engine and ECU a aftermarket ECU is the way to go.
A Dyno and mapping session with a trusted and reputable ECU guru is also money well spent.
Rotarys are quite precise to get everything (Timing and Fueling) spot on.
With a turbo on the RX8 engine the compression will be too high.
Okay for the occasional blast.
But if your thinking high boost a change to RX7 Turbo rotors may be a good investment.
I’ll be going aftermarket ECU after the 13B Sprint is up and run in and funds are back to normal.
(Unless someone got one)
You could have a go yourself if you feel confident enough.
But I would not recommend it.

I have one , it’s not a bad bit of kitDavemitch wrote:Model of turbo is T618Z. Purely investigation at the moment but I may have my hands on a conversion kit and wanted to know more first lol
It’s a really tight fit , can be done if you can get it high enough off the ground .
It depends what you want from it , if it’s just the occasional spirited drive it’s fine . As a full on track car it will eventually eat itself unless the engine is built specifically for the kit .
Mine runs 240whp and 190 ft torque on half bar boost .

Re: GReddy turbo conversion
240whp is that track car though? I just fancy that little bit more poke and coz shiny is best and a dump valve/waste gate of course. Would be used regularly though so I'm thinking low boost?mrspiller wrote: ↑Sun Apr 26, 2020 10:59 amI have one , it’s not a bad bit of kitDavemitch wrote:Model of turbo is T618Z. Yeah it’s a track car but is mapped very conservatively , for longevity I hope lolDavemitch wrote:240whp is that track car though? Plenty more in the tank but we are seeing how it goes
And yes the dump valve is a strange noise coming from an RX8
