Torque says I get 23 AVG mpg. But I'm fairly sure that 250 miles at best to a tank isn't 23 mpg.

if you're brave you can get down to about 48 liters on a rex.

250 miles is 23.68

300 is 28.41

ive done 300 on roughly 43 liters before and that's 31.72

so yeah. it is :D

Oh really.. I swear when I looked the other day it came out at 18 odd. I keep debating going for 300 but I doubt it will ever happen.

Well researched? Nah. He spouted so much nonsense in the first 2 minutes it was infuriating. It didn't get much better from there. Yeah he liked the car, that was a positive I guess.

This isn't the first review that JayEmm's been off when it comes to the detail. Problem is that his review turnover is so high (to get the revenue) that he does a bit of Google researching then jumps in and shoots from the hip. I've been a long term viewer but have unsubscribed from him today. Channels like High Peak Autos at least know what they're talking about and take a more holistic approach.

That PZ clearly had issues which didn't help. Thanks for letting the side down owner 'James'. At least it was acknowledged in the review that this PZ needed some TLC.. even though that came moments after claiming it was kept in good condition by ER :-k

You must slosh it a lot having fun  Mine can go a full 64l without cutting out, the R3 tank isn't THAT much bigger ;)

He reviewed one of my cars and while did a good review, for the most part. However, he didn't quite get the details right.

When I purchased my RX-8 I didn't make it a petrol station in time (I assumed low-30mpg and got mid-20mpg #-o ). I put a total of 61.3l in the tank including a few miles to the petrol station after filling up with can.

So in researching the RX-8 the best he could find was a written off PZ due to a "Big dent" a 2+2 (or 3) that has useless back seats, looks strange, drinks fuel and oil, has warped brake discs and has soft suspension (at 13 years old?) a pity it wasn`t raining no doubt he would have discovered just how good the "ditch finders" performed! :-k

Should really have come and researched with the experts! [-X

Come on guys it was a fair review. The only problem I had with it was the mid 20's MPG ( at best) but apart from that I didn't have an issue with it.

I thought he was pretty spot on with the bulk of his info and if we take off our rose tinted RX8 glasses I think most people would find it a fair an balanced review.

At the end of the vid he praised it and said it was a hell of a lot of fun, that's good enough for me

What he said regarding the Low Powered Version (192ps) he totally missed the point of why this particular model came to the UK in the first place :!: :!:

Maybe but Clarkson said the same thing and I agree with both. 99pc of potential buyers if you gave them a choice between the 231 or the 192 would opt for the 231.

He clearly went into it thinking he was going to slag it off.
Remember he's a Honda S2000 man.

But despite being a Vtec man, he came round to it and clearly really enjoyed driving it - even with soft suspension. :thumleft:

The back seat comments were stupid, he clearly didn't get in them and they were the main reason I bought my first one over a 350Z back in 2004....that and the insurance on the Z was 3x as much  1st thing they asked in the Nissan dealership "have you had an insurance quote sir?"

He obvs had no idea about pricing talking about 7k for an r3 and then only mentioning a 5-7k budget. If he thinks it's good value at 7k, try £1500 mate!

Seems to be more of these reviews coming about now on YouTube, amazingly most people that actually drive them change their perception, from being unreliable, blah, blah, blah, to being enormous fun driver orientated cars, who knew, right? Was a fair bit out on buying one with a bad engine and getting a rebuild all for £6000. But he did have plenty of positive comments

Ian you are still missing the point, when the cars were Brand New the 192ps was cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure (Group 15), slightly better on mpg and easier to drive in traffic because of the 5 speed box :thumright:

The Fleet Market couldn't take the 231ps because it was in a higher group of Insurance (16) and dearer to buy, so they requested that Mazda UK Imported the Lower Powered Version to the UK, hence why the 192ps was the best selling Company Coupe Car between 2004 to 2005 :thumleft:

There was no other 4dr Coupe on the British Market at the time when the RX-8 was launched in the UK, where as now there are loads of 4dr Coupes to choose from and you could in fact thank Mazda for that in a round about way

I bought my first RX-8 new I looked at and test drove both versions and didn`t find a great deal of difference in performance but I wanted a car in Black with Black & Red leather interior and I could afford a 230 bhp car with cloth or a 190 with the leather so that is what I bought and never regretted it.

On our heavily congested pot holed roads I found the 190 car perfectly agreeable it performed as required.

The one saving grace with this vid is that, despite all the preconceptions that he had before driving and even the prepared script, it was all transformed when he drove (even a less than perfect) example.

However, this is yet another example of how poor yt is for anyone actually wanting to learn the facts, and why the RX8OC needs its own YT channel to start to redress the balance.

We're working on it ;) Building up enough content to launch the channel will take some time, especially over winter. I'll be posting up requests soon on how members can help with that. It will need member involvement to be any good.

I actually offered my car to JayEmm to review, he declined saying he already had one booked in for a review which I'm guessing is this one!

You can't really expect a reviewer to know every minute detail of the car - especially when its just the one bloke making loads of reviews. Even high budget TV programs screw up the details - Fifth gear's rx8 review for example, not knowing the difference between HP and PS.

5th gears review seemed very biased to me, like the guy down the pub sort of review, "I heard such and such so I don't like it" sort if thing. Matched a 4 seat coupe against a 2 seater on track.
