Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance
these days you might as well just have recovery membership... tyre gunk is usually useless and a spare takes most of the boot up..

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance
Thanks guys. Some great responses as always.
When I get a chance ( probably the weekend ) I'll be opening that bag at the back. Once all the moths have flown out of it, I'll be trying out that inflator. It will be amazing if it still works after 13 years but you never know. I'll probably update the tyre gunk, but as mentioned I have the mazda roadside assistance so it will still be my goto method.
I also luckily have only ever had slow punctures so usually have managed to get to a tyre place to fix, except the last time when it was a nail on the edge and unrepairable.
As for gauges, it seems that alot use the digital gauges and are happy. Since I've just received a voucher for renewing my club membership, I may just try out that one in the Club shop!

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance
Tyre string? Not heard of this before. What is this?
What brand foot pump do you have, if I may ask, and has it been reliable and worked well for you?

LMSAFY
Halfords double barrel. Cheap as chips, short hose but fairly sturdy and highest volume per-pump I could find.

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance
Alot of people were complaining about recent pumps, saying they fell apart, and some preferred refurbed vintage ones. Good to know the Halfords one is solid, and cheap!

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance
OK here is the story. At Beaulieu around 2 years after getting my second RX8, so after 3 years ownership in total, I needed something out of Azams R3 boot and asked Claire for the keys. “Just use the button” she said. “Button, what button?” Says I.
Followed by “Thats handy, the S1s don’t have them” cue laughter and chorus of “oh yes they do”
Thanks Alan for bringing up this blast from the past!

Re: Tyre Pressure Maintenance
This boggles my mind a tiny bit, though, for one hilarious reason - The Renault Scenic.
The current and previous generation of Renault Scenic - A FRENCH CAR - has to have the front bumper off to change any bulbs in the headlight cluster. So a French car, presumably designed for use in France - to the point I believe it comes with a spare bulb kit from the dealer - cannot have the bulbs changed at the side of the road because you have to remove the front bumper...
JOY AND RAPTURE.
