Mazda only offered Yellow the first year of any new sports model, so the only Lightning Yellow RX-8s you will see are either '03-'04 registrations or repainted.

Yellow rx8s

Post by GreySilver Beast »

A slight correction there Dave, I could of ordered a Brand New Yellow RX-8 in 192ps (UK spec), 210ps (JDM Auto) or 231ps (UK spec) from the factory in 2005 but would of been Special Order with Mazda UK though

There is a chap who has a nice looking one (which now I think about it was an 04) with the spats etc and RM rebuild , was tempted but I felt he wanted too much money so regrettably passed. Thought I’d mention just in case you particularly want to find a yella!

That wasn't a Mazda UK special order, it was T W Whites bringing cars in directly from Japan, including unsold stock which they converted to UK-spec.

Good old TW whites ;)
There are still a few yellow ones kicking about. I’d say they are one of the rare colour but not that hard to come by if you have the cash and are prepared to wait for the right one. Most are quite rusty, mainly due to the fact they are the older models.

Nope, I think I have seen that once before but I can’t remember if it was an optional extra or just custom work

It was available as an Option up to the end of 2003 I think, but Dave may know more seeing he was working for Ford back then :thumleft:

It was originally a one-off produced for Mazda North American Operations, for publicity shots, that later got replicated by others.

I saw a yellow/black leather trimmed car for sale with a blown engine years ago and seriously considered buying it to fit the seats in mine, despite my loathing of leather seat in cars.

The owner would only sell the car complete and we went and looked at it (180+ mile round trip), when we still lived in Essex.
On close inspection you could see that this had originally been a black and tan interior, which was an option, and the tan sections had been painted. Proper leather paint but still...

There were/are some real black & yellow interiors, there was one for sale in NI a couple of years ago, which I believe was from a JDM car.

There was one in Esex that I saw in the latter part of 03 that had been professionally trimmed with yellow leather and from the same dealer that Ploz (Richard, another founder member) and seen at about the same time as he picked his up and so probably November 03 approx.
Now a distant memory unfortunately.

I’m guessing you are talking about this car Secla?
How tatty is it?

Edit - Just read MOT history , corrosion seems to be the order of the day

Yeh that’s the one but was advertised locally not eBay
Doesn’t look bad in the pictures but history of corrosion on previous mots and rusty front wings !

I was going to take a look as it’s only 10 miles from me but the lack of current mot put me off

Likewise, quite fancied it but I get the feeling the seller is being somewhat economical with the description for a reason.

MOT just Expired, a few advisories last time, and more than a few fails in its history, plus outstanding recalls
