Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
Hello all,
Just wondering what each of those spacers would look like on the RX8 with standard wheels and tyres?
Looking forward to seeing some pics!
Thanks

20mm front and rear. On the old suspension set up though. Now I have R3 suspension, the wheels are more flush with the arches on the rear.

You planning on selling them, How much would you want for em'. Are they comfy enough on lower settings? If I remember right, they are the Meister Zetas rightHumane-Hobgoblin wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 1:33 amOh cool!Django91 wrote:I remember your car from another post, did you end up selling your coilovers?

Just a heads up that unless you know the camber in these photos (and what camber you have) they won't give you an exact picture of what to expect. But you will get cool photos.

Re: Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
I found that 20mm is about the limit using stock wheels and 225 45 18 tyres, and i do know that 25mm ,although fitted to my sons rx are to tight for the rear, but we had to repair the arches so managed to accomodate them.
Which ever you choose, you will need to reduce the stud length on the hub,and for 20mm spacers, they need to be 8mm less, rob.

Re: Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
Depends on the alloys you use. On my oem Oz's no mod was required with the studs with 20mm spacers. If you look behind the alloy itself, you'll see if the studs need modifying or not.goodeggbob wrote: ↑Fri Jan 03, 2020 10:37 amI found that 20mm is about the limit using stock wheels and 225 45 18 tyres, and i do know that 25mm ,although fitted to my sons rx are to tight for the rear, but we had to repair the arches so managed to accomodate them.

Re: Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
Hello, by using a 20mm spacer, and with a stud length of 27mm,which i assume is standard on all cars, there is a 7mm reduction to be made in the hub stud.
this can either be achieved by pocketing the rear of the wheel itself,if not already done,or reducing the stud length by 7mm,making sure you have no high spots when you have cut them.

Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
It might be worth looking at other brands as the Eibachs need trimming down to fit RX-8 Wheels as I found out on the 192ps and R3 that I previously owned, it's also worth mentioning Eibachs Spacer Studs also need trimming down to fit GT86/BRZ's
Am using Direnza Black Limited Edition 25mm Wheel Spacers on my GT86 which just bolt on using the Studs supplied to fit the GT86 17" Standard Alloy Wheels

Dredging this thread up... Is there any preference as to whether to cut the studs down or pocket the rear of the wheels? When fitting 20mm spacers (40th Anniversary wheels I've discovered foul on the ends of the studs)

Pocket them if you may want to go back to stock. Chop the studs if not.
Chopping the studs is obviously the simpler option of course.

Re: Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
Ok thanks, I will probably get some aftermarket wheels at some point, so I guess that means altering the rear of the wheels to clear the studs would save me a headache at a later date.

I ran 25mm on the front and 20mm on the back on my old series 1 with no issues

Curious to know if the stock R3 wheels require pocketing? I think I will be fitting some spacers at a later date.

Re: Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
This is interesting, how do you actually measure for the correct spacer because I just used a tap measure on the side wall to how far the arch comes out and got 25mm for front and 30mm for rear? for what I would assume to be a flush fitment but I don't want to buy them if that is incorrect as it seems bigger than what everyone else is running

Re: Visual differences, 10 mm, 15 mm, and 20 mm spacers
I went purely off the previous experience of others on here, RX8club.com & Essex Rotary site, I think it will depend on what suspension you have fitted and the alignment (camber etc), wheel specs, and tyre specs.
20mm appears to be "safe" on the S1 with stock wheels/tyres ,no mods needed.
I didn't want to get into removing the arch liners or rolling the arches etc.
