I don't think the cloth seats make my rx8 to look common
But each to their own is cheap to sort out I paid 30 pound for the interior

Re: Replacing the headliner.
Just how tall are you I would have to ask ?
The cloth seats are the best option and I believe you can turn the seat rail over or something to get a little more clearance if I remember a thread correctly. You can lean the seat back as well
Bucket seats tend to be difficult for large people and are very upright for headroom.
Just take a drive to BigPetes and get cloth fitted, my mate was large and found a big difference with that set up.
Regards
Pete
PS : Just get some leopard skin seat covers if you don’t want to look common

Re: Replacing the headliner.
I'm 6ft6". I can't remember the exact price for the cloth seats that BigPete offered me. But the drive down would have been about 3 times as much as the seats! (Petrols expensive for 300 miles there 300 miles back or so) I know you can change a couple of bolts etc for a bit more. Generally in my car I don't have massive of amounts of head room. (I have maybe 1/4" of an inch sitting uncramped and decently comfortable). See part of the issue is the electric rails (cloth seats remedy this obviously) and leg clearance under the steering wheel. The way the cars currently setup I have enough room to comfortably control the car properly. Just a bit more would be nice really.

I'm sure I'll get an opportunity at the AGM. The biggest issue is the possibility that not everyones bucket seats will be on rails.

Re: Replacing the headliner.
Just to clarify - my 'common' comment was a joke. The generic opinion is that leather is 'posh', therefore cloth must be 'common'.
Even though they're rarer, and hold you in your seat better, and are lighter etc. etc. ...

Re: Replacing the headliner.
The biggest problem is that the back is in a fixed position and very upright on bucket seats.
I have a pair in mine both on adjustable rails but I am going to change them for cloth seats and I’m not large or tall.

Pete

Re: Replacing the headliner.
Ahah oh yeah. I'm well aware of the uprightedness. I suppose it all comes down to the amount of height gained by lowering the rails vs the amount of height gained vertically from being more upright. I don't think my drivers seat is leaning that far back currently but I'll have a check tomorrow when its light just out of curiosity. There was a time when I had it leaning further back and the base of the seat further forward but gave up on that idea due to the handbrake prodding my leg all the time.

Re: Replacing the headliner.
I'm flying down for the AGM and borrowing Ranjans car Mihail. Ahah yeah. The cage also restricts alot as I found out in Ranjans car Neil! I think theres a good inch or so further back for a non caged cars seat is there not? Or does yours still reach the same position as stock with the cage in?

Re: Replacing the headliner.
I tried to get into someone else's 8 at a trackday and found it impossible wearing a helmet.
He had bucket seats installed, on rails, but the gap between the door frame and side bolsters was too tight, and I'm only 6ft, though carrying more weight than I'd like.

Re: Replacing the headliner.
See thats also another thing. I'm not like... massively massive side ways but I'm obviously bigger than most just by default. So most peoples bucket seats are going to most likely be too small for me bolster wise.warpc0il wrote: ↑Sat Jan 11, 2020 11:47 pmI tried to get into someone else's 8 at a trackday and found it impossible wearing a helmet.

And thats fair Mihail. Maybe once I get south and manage to see BigPete about a cloth interior I'll be able to have a substantial amount more room. Most people are surprised I can even fit in an 8... But to be honest its probably one of the roomier sports cars about so its not like I had a massive amount of choice.
