Maybe worth knowing that we were one of the first selling Tein when the product was launched in the UK some 18 years ago and this is only the second time I have heard of any kind of failure.

The other one was a customer years ago who must somehow forced and broke the adjuster, disconnecting the adjuster inside the damper. Once again Tein sorted this for him free of charge even though they were years old,

That’s effectively what I had done Clive, snapped off the hex shaft but the click adjuster had seized solid due to water filling the well in the strut top mount rusting everything.
The absence of rust on the main body threads and where the paint had flakes off is the biggest surprise to me and just says TEIN quality is excellent.

One of the questions that's come up a few times is how responsive the EDFC Active is.

So here's about 15 seconds of video to give an idea how responsive it is on just a slowish start going up to just 20mph (you can see the speed at the top of the display)

This won't win any awards, but I think does show how incredibly responsive the EDFC Active is :-) as it applies front and rear correction to prevent the small amounts of squat and dive experienced with stiff spring (2x the rate of the Cusco coilers) on just a slow start, let alone a quick one.

See what you think!

Before fitting the edfc motors, do the dampers have to set on a certain setting? Hardest or softest setting or middle?

Any idea?

Neither really! Its a stage process which is detailed in the attachment, 48 pages of information!

But surely there needs to be a starting point for the motors, otherwise how would it know what stage the dampers are at already.
No need to worry because when you first install the EDFC you hear the motors whirring and finding their base setting that the system then operates from.

Hope this helps.

READ THE INSTRUCTIONS and yes I have deliberately written that in bold upper case as there is a specific way to install the motors which involves setting the EDFC specific adjusting screw (not the standard screw) flush with the top of the rod, then turning it in a set number of turns, screwing the motor down carefully until it stops, then turn the motors shaft a further set number of turns and screw the motor down again.
If the motor is screwed down hard to soon then the drive rod will be jammed against the adjusting screw and the motor potentially damaged.

Once the install instructions are followed as in the book I sent to you its job done then you will be safe to turn on the power and have the system go though its "zeroing" process.
