Re: Stereo sucurity bolt
The connection between the front plate and the actual unit is probably loose. I had the exact same thing. Take the faceplate off, check/clean the contacts and put back together.Dazza44 wrote:Next problem got the stereo out put it back in and nothing completly dead I've checked the cabin fuse that s fine

Re: Stereo sucurity bolt
That's the one! Was just trying to find a guide on YouTube but I can't see one. I can't for the life of me remover how I did it. It wasn't hard though I remember that much. Undid from the back I think.Dazza44 wrote:Thanku silly question but do when u say front plate do u mean were all the buttons are for the stereo are

Re: Stereo sucurity bolt
Yeah what he said.
The facia is screwed to the unit with 4 screws.
But the problem is the brass / copper sleeve inserts which are inserted into the facia. Over time, those sleeves become loose and the facia slowly moves away from the unit. So no screwing back in will work and if it does, it will work its way out again.
Unscrew the 4 screws, carefully remove the unit from the facia making sure not to bend any contact pins.
Then push the sleeves back into the facia and add a dab of super glue ( a tiny bit! ) wait for the super glue to fully cure before carefully offering the facia to the unit again being mindful that you are guiding the contact pins into their original position.
Then screw the 4 screws back in. That problem will be solved. Very rare. If that doesn't work then it's possibly buggered

Re: Stereo sucurity bolt
If you removed the audio unit without disconnecting the battery first then an anti-theft feature in the unit would have been triggered and part of the circuit would have burnt-out.
As an anti-theft feature this is totally ineffective, because they don't tell anyone about, yet it would only be a deterant if the scrots knew that a stolen unit would be unusable.
Thankfully there is a way to repair the board, and the information is on the forum.

Re: Stereo sucurity bolt
That's a really good point Dave. By habit I always pull the battery before doing any electrical work.
Check those screws connecting the facia to the unit. There shouldn't be a gap and if you look close you might see the sleeves sticking out of the facia. So give that fix a whirl. Don't bother about the superglue, if you're diagnosing.
Hopefully by you pulling the head unit out by pulling on the facia, its pulled the connections away which is really common. Once you've done the fix it, reconnect all the unit connectors without fitting back into its place and reconnect the battery.
Hopefully it will come back on. If not, then you will have to do what Daves suggested
Best of luck
Keni
