Compression Testing near Milton Keynes

Post by northerner69 »

Can anybody recommend or know of somewhere to get a compression test done on my RX8? I don't want to pay a fortune for dealership prices, I'm sure I heard somewhere of one of the specialist doing a rental/diy job or was that a remapping service? I'm based near Milto Keynes so preferably I'd like it to be reasonably close proximity. Any ideas on charges for the service?

Many members have their own compression testers now.

I've updated the subject of this thread to get the attention of someone local

If nobody local with a compression tester comes forward and if there isn't someone nearby on this map https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... 000244&z=7
give Luke Murdoch a call https://www.facebook.com/Murdochs-Rotar ... 174826564/ - he is mobile and travels all round the country

You've just missed out on Luke Murdoch who's mobile - he was in Milton Keynes on the 16th.

If no one local has a compression tester then Ryan Rotary is an hour up the M1 - they also do mobile callouts for additional costs. Compression tests run at around £60 if memory serves me correctly.

Typical😑 Not to worry I might ask my local main dealer for a price anyway. The car has a couple of recalls due anyway. If not will message Ryan rotary and havery a drive up.
thanks for the reply.

Many dealers no longer have the equipment or the staff training to perform rotary compression tests.

The last set of dealer results shared on here were 4 numbers - the 1st and 3rd being nearly the same, as were the 2nd and 4th.

No coincidence that there are four plugs on a Renesis. ..

A couple of months ago one nice gentleman called Edward performed compression test on my RX-8. I'd highly recommend him, he always kept my updated on his availability, charged me remarkably fair price (imo) for his time and issued me a certificate with readings. He's also known as EdRX7Parts on the web.

He's located in North London, so I can see no reason why wouldn't he come over to you if you agree on price for his services. I'll DM you his mobile phone number so it doesn't look like I'm making hidden promos in here. :D

I talked to Edward last night, seems a nice guy and very accomodating. As a result of this I'm planning on getting him to come through to Milton Keynes on Saturday 31st August to perform the compression tests on mine and Luigi's RX's. At the moment it's £75/test. Wondering if there's any more owners in the vicinity that might be interested in getting their engines done? It might mean the pricing will be revised and saves members having to go out and organise their own tests as well. Just a thought...
