Rx8 gone into limp mode whilst driving home and now won't start help

Post by Rx8mb1995 »

Was driving home as normal and the car went into limp mode managed to get it home and now it won't start engine will turn over but that's it and doesn't bring any fault codes up or lights on dash it's only done 37000 miles and always been serviced by Mazda, could it be omp or mop as some people call it ?

True "limp mode" will always show CEL and have codes to read via ODB port.

If the car has just suddenly lost power, without a CEL, then it's something not directly monitored by the pcm, e.g.
- blocked exhaust by collapsed cat.
- dying fuel pump
- multiple ignition coil/lead/plug failures.
- oil soaked MAF
- the list goes beyond what can be determined without more information.

Hi and :welcome: Rx8mb1995. Sorry to hear you have a problem. :whathesaid: Presumably as it has always been serviced by Mazda it still has the original coils and leads (they are not a service item but it has been found the original coils were only good for 25-30k miles). Read this https://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/v ... 25&t=36282

Where in the country are you? There may be a specialist nearby who we can recommend to have a look at it for you (they are far better than any Mazda dealership).

I'm going to spin the wheel of 'what's wrong with my Rex today' and go with blocked cat.
