Air con drip.

Post by V8 Power »

I have a fluid dripping from my track car that looks like clear water.
It is just behind the bulkhead area and is dripping onto the bellhousing of the gearbox. Is this the aircon outlet or do I have some other leak?

Thanks

It's where the cold pipes run, yes. Almost certainly just condensation.

Particular weather conditions can make ac condensate much more noticeable.

Dry roads and very humid air being one.

Ha, literally noticed this on mine last night after a run. Was coming off at quite a rate! Made my heart skip a beat until I noticed it was clear. Pic that was going to go up on here until I realised what it was (for reference)

the evapourator which is inside the heater unit freezes from time to time, this is why the compressor cycles...to allow it to thaw...the condensate then drips into the heater unit which has a drain to let the water out...this is what you are seeing and is normal, all a/c systems have this drain and if it gets blocked can cause water to leak inside the car.
