Parrot Mki9200 Install

Post by Jeags »

Hi all,

I have bought a second hand Mki9200 to try and see if it would work in my 8. I didn't want to spend much as my firmware is version 10.01 and I wasn't sure whether it was compatible. This second hand one has arrived today and I have removed my stereo to find that the iso plug connecting to the stereo from the car is different to any of the cables I have got with it. I have had a quick google and found adapters like these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141951562745 which look like they could work, however I was thinking that if I used that, the port on the back of the stereo would be vacant which would lead it to only supply power to the parrot and not the stereo? I'm no expert and am reading up on this. Bottom line, If i buy an adapter like the link I have provided, is it likely to work?

Cheers,

Joe

That harness is more suitable for replacing the Mazda head unit with an ISO head unit.

You need a ‘Y cable’ type which takes power off the factory harness.

A bit like this one:

Update. The adapter has arrived and I've installed it. The parrot is getting power, but the stereo unit and display isn't. I tried removing the adapter and plugging the stereo back in as it was and still no power. It sounds like it has power as when I connect one of the cables from the blue box to the adapter, I can hear the motor in the stereo moving, a bit like when you insert a CD. Any ideas?

After some time adjusting wires, it's fixed itself now! I assume it was a temperamental wire, but it's all in now and enjoying Bluetooth in the 8! 😁

Excellent news, congrats.

Having looked at some videos, it seems you can dislodge some connection to the front panel when removing the unit so I’m guessing it could have been that.

Cheers!

Yeah, it was a tight fit getting the stereo unit back in. Took some time but is really worth it in the end!

Aye, I'll get membership when i'm driving the car. My 8 is SORN at the moment until October as I can't afford the insurance on it yet being a student! As soon as my first year insurance is up, It's getting taxed and insured and i'll never be out of it! It's slowly killing me watching it on the drive and washing it every day!
