Just an odd one, which may not be an odd one but couldnt see anything too relevant when searching...
If I have taken the car out, stopped somewhere but only for a couple minutes and got straight back in and fired her up, the oil light seems to come on and often stay on for the rest of my journey, although admittedly it sometimes goes off after a few miles.
Is there a likely cause for this? It happens probably 80% of the time and is irrelevant if I drove for 20 or 100 miles and then stopped. As long as I come back to the car within 10 minutes the oil light seems to come on.
Oil light on during specific circumstances..

Could even be the sender itself faulty.

Re: Oil light on during specific circumstances..
Could depend on where you're stopping, if you park on a slope which moves oil away from the level sensor then it could well trip. Once it's tripped it won't reset until you cycle the ignition, so it'll stay on. I do the Brands Hatch December track day most years, and most years during my first session I've had the oil light come on as I'm braking for Paddock Hill, so it can be repeatable.

It's worth remembering that the sump oil level sensor isn't in the same place as the oil pump pickup, so the light coming on isn't always a sign of impending disaster, especially under the sort of dynamics Sam speaks off.

Re: Oil light on during specific circumstances..
Cheers, doesnt seem to be slope related. For example, when I stop for fuel, 80% of the time when I start it back up the oil light will come on. Sometimes it goes off, even without turning the ignition off, 5 or 10 minutes later. Sometimes it stays on for the entire journey. But if its left for half an hour and then started up there will be no light!

Re: Oil light on during specific circumstances..
In that case either ignore it as it will usually not come on for a 1st start
if it does then stop and check the oil level
to make it go away on hot starts you'll have to replace the sensor
