Cup Holder Inserts
Clearly the most important aspect of any sports car
So the cans of energy drink and fizzy pop that I̶'̶M̶ ̶A̶D̶D̶I̶C̶T̶E̶D̶ ̶T̶O̶ ̶P̶L̶E̶A̶S̶E̶ ̶H̶E̶L̶P̶ ̶M̶E̶ keep me laser focused and safe on the road tip forward and back on hard braking/accelerating and I'm forever clearing up a sticky mess...
Each cup holder did have a circular neoprene pad at the bottom that helped a bit, maybe from the previous owner, but didn't solve the problem and are both lost anyway.
I've been looking for a universal rubber/plastic cup holder reducer insert. Something like on our XF and some other cars that grip at a few cm from the base for stability, but will compress to allow larger containers, almost to the full diameter of the cup holder. Pic of the XF cup holder below, those protrusions are rubber and fully compress. No spills in the Jag!
Anyone solved this already before I go overboard and botch something?

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
Well universal inserts with grips seem to be non existent!
Best I could find are these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MINI-BMW-200 ... 2536721338
If they are what you're looking for, then a dab of glue would hold them in place I'd say.

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
That's why I drink so much. Got to glug it down while it's still cold! That's not long in an 8!

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
Need to resurrect this thread. I've tried a few solutions including the one above and nothing worked/lasted. I'm tired of cold drinks sliding around the cup holders and spilling.
At this point I'd settle for cutting new neoprene inserts in the bottom of the cup holders to replace my lost ones. Did every RX8 have those neoprene inserts or did a previous owner add them to mine themselves?
Any tips on how to draw and cut a perfect circle welcome. Precision crafts is far outside my comfort zone. I'm more of a 'hit it with bigger a hammer' guy. I'll get my callipers out and measure the diameter of the base of the cup holder.

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
Pretty sure they were standard, recollect having them in both mine..
Maybe some sort of rubber ring gasket/insert might work..

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
You could always pick up some of these. Dirt cheap and do a decent job for what they are. Got them for £2.50, admittedly I normally have maccies cups in them, but unless you're going absolutely ham with your turning, they hold them okNew Duke wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 5:27 pmNeed to resurrect this thread. Re: Cup Holder Inserts
I got mine from AliExpress, so cheap and cheerful from China but take a good month to get here. Not sure if there are any on eBay that people have marked up but you get quicker delivery on 'em.
The listing that I bought from has been deleted by the seller, but these look the same, and a lot of sellers sell the same stuff as each other. clicky here

It says it has a "rotary adjustable base"...? That's gotta be a must-have nowSmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Fri Apr 16, 2021 7:12 pmWant even better than a neoprene disc? How about 12V cooling?

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
I could make some polyurethane inserts if there's really a market, but nowhere near how cheap these ebay/chinese bits are.

Re: Cup Holder Inserts
Thanks for the thought. Yeah there's plenty of super cheap tat that fits though. I've since also bought, and fitted, these lovely little circular beauties below. Check out the faux crystals. They fit well and compliment my Smiggle unicorn purse.RenesisRaceBuggy wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 9:16 pmI could make some polyurethane inserts if there's really a market, but nowhere near how cheap these ebay/chinese bits are.

Careful! Those quality diamonds will be reflecting all that sunlight onto your cold can of coke and warming it up faster! We can't be having that!New Duke wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:21 pmThanks for the thought. Yeah there's plenty of super cheap tat that fits though. Re: Cup Holder Inserts
Used to be Coke. I recently boycotted them (and all Coke owned brands) since they were outed as racist. But cans of Pepsi are much harder to find on journeys sadly... so now I just drink more Red Bull.HarSc wrote: ↑Thu Apr 22, 2021 10:28 pmCareful!
