Advice - Traders: Who's Who?

Looking at all the options available out there for me at the moment and I'm very tempted by a few cars. However, can anyone tell me the difference between The Performance Shop and LC Rotary? Are they one and the same or separate? Also, has anyone bought from Kent Rotaries (formally Hexable???).

Thanks. I've seen an R3 available at Kent Rotaries and they are always popping up with various RX8s for sale. They have told me that Reece (??) has done the servicing on it and could also give his opinion on the car. They said they are separate though??

My understanding (which could be wrong):

Kent Rotaries are nothing to do with any other firm. They used to be know as Hextable Rotaries. Hextable's reputation was mixed, although I have no direct experience of them.

LC Rotary have recently changed their name. In fact they now have two names; LC Motorsport (the garage side of things), and The Performance Shop (the parts supply side). LC has a good reputation.

Hextable got a reputation on this forum, because they would sometimes say that LC had done work on a car, but LC would have no knowledge. So if Kent Rotaries are telling you that LC worked on the car then my suggestion would be to check that with LC. And if Kent give you a print out of the compression results, and they are all 7's, it's probably best to get LC to check the compression for you....

Note: I'm not aware of specific comments about Kent, so they may be fine, and they may have turned things around since the Hextable days. But I'd be doing my own checks if it was me, to be sure.

You might get more detailed responses regarding Kent aka Hextable, if this thread was in the Members Only area rather that the public area...

Lewis owns LC Motorsport ( formerly Lc Rotary) and has moved location to near swanscombe (bluewater) and Reece owns the performance shop..... which deals with parts etc. Two separate companies but with connections :thumright:

Yes, I was there the other day chatting with Reece and the guys from Kent rotaries was there. It was mentioned that Reece deals with their services now and rebuilds are left to Lewis at lc Motorsport. I believe there is also a nice R3 for sale at the performance shop in diamond grey

Just wondering if anyone had any more dealings with Kent Rotary (formally Hextable as stated above)?

I believe that TPS (reece) still does their work. I have seen them drop off a few different cars not just Rx8's. Not had any dealings with them myself though.

I had my car serviced and MOT’d at TPS last week, first time I’ve taken it to them since moving house.

Met Reece, Kim and Josh, all really nice blokes with a good knowledge of the 8. They are diversifying their business, doing MX-5s, Minis amongst other things, in a similar way to RR becoming MAP and working on Mustangs.

Lewis’ separate LC Motorsport page isn’t active anymore, so not sure if he’s still trading?

Oh thats interesting,..... he dropped off the radar as there were some bad customer service issues and I believe some legal claims against them in the end.

As far as I'm aware he is now just a self employed
sparky. Maybe the correct paperwork were never submitted.
