In order to achieve deeper tone on the idle and in general - is it the catback needs to be different or backbox is enough ?

The pipe from the cat to the back box is just a straight tube, and fairly irrelevant. It usually comes with whatever back box you buy.

The back box is most important for tone. The cat section can change the overall noise level. As can the manifold.

Not wanting to start yet another comp thread could someone normalise these results for me pweeeetty pweeeease :D

I know they'll be a tad lower obvs and I'm still happy with the results considering I had her rebuilt 6 years ago and she's been my daily since and always premixed so here goes...

Jesus Dazza!! Way to give a man a heart attack   Thanks Nick,I'm happy with those results, absolutely no hot starts and she pulls well :D

Only got it done because I'm probs going to be selling it soon so a potential buyer will want to see one.An informed buyer will look at the folder of receipts of work done on her that I have and see those results for what they are IMO.Nice even wear across the 6 faces and plenty life left in the engine IMO.

I'd be interested to hear what the experts think all the same though.Oh just for reference the last comp test I had done at RR in 2017 was low to mid 6's

I didn't realise it had a rebuild - who did it 6 years ago?
If it wasn't Revs then I too will have a heart attack

Rebuilt by a since retired specialist in Ireland, really brilliant guy who's rebuilt heaps of 8''s and 7's.Eddy Doyle is his name, you may have heard of him ( or not) very well known in the rotary world

The rebuild was comical,I gave it to a guy to change the clutch and he ended up destroying a very healthy engine ( mid 7's across the board )To say I was shocked was an understatement!!

Long story short both eddy and Ben still don't know what the guy did.All he was telling me at the time was that when he changed the clutch he started the car and smoke started pissing everywhere  I was raging, absolutely raging. He kept on telling me the oil control rings must have went  The oil control rings rarely if ever let go in an 8,in fact 7's are more prone to this.Anyways after having it out with him I rang eddy and told him the story,he told me get it on a flat bed to him and he's take a look .

Eddy stripped down the engine and discovered oil literally everywhere in the engine but couldn't say for definite what had caused it.The only thing he found was bad wiring to the O2 sensor but that wouldn't have caused what he found. He told me he'd rebuild the engine as he had it apart anyways so I said fine and it's been great since.

To this day we have no clue what the guy did to destroy my engine.Maybe the b***** was ragging the arse off my car and blew the engine? Who knows?...

Um possibly the O2 sensor bad wiring blew the fuse for the oil metering pump which in an R3 causes it to just chuck oil in and then lots and lots of smoke. I only know this from an error by someone else :)

Yeah that was discussed Pete but Eddy didn't go for that. I'm not saying you're wrong, just saying Eddy didn't think that was the cause.

It's aincent history now though....
