I've used these people before
https://www.insure4aday.co.uk
Quite reasonable for that extra peace of mind

Also a cheap way to get some miles on the 5 or the 8 while still on the L's

Thank you! Maybe if I feel comfortable enough letting others drive them, then these will be most useful :)

I only have third party, fire and theft myself. Only £500 a year as a learner that way.
I was trying to think :-k when was it that I stopped just getting TPF&T and thinking that "Fully Comp" was like another world

Oh, I remember, it was when I bought my first new car and it was a requirement for the finance.

Before that I do remember the first time I was offered "windscreen cover" and I thought it was to keep the frost off #-o
I did manage to get a claim paid for a broken headlight, against the windscreen cover, as it just said "vehicle glass", and there wasn't an excess charge, dip in ncb or hit on the next years premium. :thumleft:

These days, as an old fart, it sometimes costs less for fully comp than it would for TPF&T, as there's more competition.

qwakers wrote:ill let anyone drive mine, lemon took mine out last year at jdm coombe. all i could do in the passenger seat was smile, its a different perspective and its nice to see what you car can do when someone else drives :)

if i trust so,epne (and i usually determine that within the first 5 mins of meeting you) then i have no qualms lendimg my car to s9meone, although if im not in the passenger seat, (unless ive known them for more than 5 mins lol) ill want some form of security so i can be sure ill get it back

I remember at Combe AGM you offered to let me take your 8 on track, luckily I didn’t Image

Last year it cost less to insure my classic '68 Alfa Romeo with a limit of 5k miles/year than it would have been for a only 3k mpa.

Seems that brokers search programs don't consider limited-mileage policies that allow more miles than you need, even when they're cheaper. #-o

In the end I decided against letting him take my car. I feel bad but not even my family drive it. If anything happened I would never forgive myself....... Or my friend! :P

I don't blame you really... I'm always dubious about people driving my cars

For me no but its probably more to do with being a really bad passenger, like seriously bad.I just get nervous. It's strange because I never used to but I'm getting older so maybe that's what it is

I was at RR a few years back and Ben took me out in a 500 horse single turbo RX7,amaaaaazing car with awesome power which I loved but on the flip side I was a nervous wreck in the car,Ben was like yeah that's your age,hes probably right

If you do let anyone else drive your car, start by telling them that the sensation of speed is very different when driving a rotary, then flip the speedo to display in kph rather than mph, before they get in the drivers seat.

* Doesn't work in ROI ;)

I think if I advertise the car for sale Dave i'll have a lot of " test pilots " coming my way in the not too distant future so i'll have no choice but to let them drive it  Well when I say no choice that's not entirely true, ill know the test pilots and tyre kickers before they even get close to the drivers seat so they'll be sent on their way
