I cant understand how a car that attracts £570 (and goes up annually) in VED and does 20MPG (if you are lucky) would not be attractive to buyers in times of uncertainty. ;)

Absolutely, but this offer is from someone who sells them on in France for €9k+

Nah, they're selling for €10k+ in France. If I was selling it to Europe I'd say minimum of £6k or walk away. Most garages would give you £4k part ex and they are worth that much in parts - I can vouch for this ;)

id say 4k is real rock bottom price for a decent r3

but the high tax/running costs and stigma behind the rotary engine doesnt make them the easiest of cars for a quick sale.
Id imagine 4k would be easy to get in this country rather than bother with the hassle of selling abroad

That fella who comes over from France and exports them is just trying it on to maximise his profit. If you sell it to a trade dealer in the UK they'll probably offer similar (tho likely a bit more). They need a margin.

Sell it yourself privately and you should expect to sell it for £5-6k. Depending on the condition, how rushed you are, and how good a salesperson you are. What's on Autotrader now should give you an idea. Your comp numbers are just fine. Anyone who calls up and whinges about those comp numbers is a buyer you're better off without anyway.

So it's up to you whether you're happy to chuck the car away quick but lose a grand or two.

I've got offered £700 by a UK dealer last week :-)

Another offered me £2,000 plus a £2,500 Mazda 3 which looked like the Dukes of Hazard were the previous owners.

The offer from France is now £4,500, take it or leave it. What worries me with Autotrader is that there is someone on this very thread advertising his for £5k and he hasn't had a single bite.

A much smarter R3 went to France from the R3 Facebook page for £5k recently. It is now being advertised in France for €12,500

Sounds cool - did it have the welded doors and no longer PC flag?

£4500 is a solid offer, I paid under £4K for all 3 of my R3s which have been newer or lower mileage (or both). What they are being advertised for in France is by and large irrelevant imo, it is how much someone is prepared to actually pay you that matters.

If you're looking for a quick sale then the £4.5k is a good offer from the time I spent looking into the general Rx8 market. If you've got time to be patient and wait then I think the right buyer in this country would part with anything between 5-6k. But as always, depends how long you can afford to wait.

The guy in France gave me £5800 for mine but that was on 33k and it was almost 2 years ago. Sure, it was up for 9000 euro soon after in France but the guy had to come and collect it and the hassle of selling it. I'd say £4500 is a good price and as long as it's as described, he wont come to kick tyres, he just listened to engine in mine and drove off happy, as was I to sell it without any hassle, quickly.
