Oooo, they're pretty. Never seen a set before, thought they were Spirit R FD seats at first.

This gets better and better; upon ringing seller found that he has two sets to sell and that the unadvertised one is still in its boxes and brand new \:D/  :yeah: :beers:

What a country.

How easy is it to use those auctions? Is language a barrier?

EBay doesn’t exist in Japan so there are a few auction sites that one can use Yahoo being the most popular. English speakers here are few and far between but you can use google translate which is quite good and will get you by. Just be careful; but it is worth it, it’s like Aladdin’s cave here.

Would it be easier to deal via someone local, that could be trusted?
Say someone based near Kyoto? ;)

If you want big stuff try Jesse streeter. Look him up. You send him a link and he does all the work for you, for a small fee. Used him a couple of times.

He's very good and reasonably priced as his team will do some due dilligence and checking of the item you are interested in.
Beware tho shipping large parts from japan can be ruinously expensive

and, if you're buying anything in a foreign currency using Paypal, don't let Paypal default to doing the transaction in Sterling as they will apply their own exchange rate - which is nearly the worst on the market.

Always look for the button on the Paypal site that says "transaction in currency...". This means that it will hit your bank or credit card still as Yen (in the case of Japan) and will be converted at their bank rate, often saving you a substantial amount.

Note that this may not be an option if your Paypal account is in credit, unless you can get more creative.
