A clamp is fine for pushing the front pistons back but the rears must be wound to avoid damage.

i have a laser branded wind back tool.(same as bigpete8’s link) it works but is a but of a pain. i keep it in the lorry. proper expensive ones are a lot easier to use, so it depends on how often you need it, in the end.

Suppose it depends on what you are used to - done dozens of much older cars (fronts mainly as drums on rear) just levering with big screwdriver and pad against disc and found this a doddle.

which is fine if the calipers are basic calipers with no thread attached to the back of a piston. do this to the rx8 rears, and youll either fail to do it, or break the calipers.

I have one of these https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0045KBN70 which worked fine the first time I did my brakes.
Last time the tool I used was called Nick - more expensive but much quicker and easier!

I've bent and eventually snapped my cheap one doing my parents cars the handle just isn't strong enough... Want to just weld a bolt or old socket on the end so I can use it with a breaker/ratchet
