Sorry, but its just gotta be said again, STEERING WHEEL...……..
So good, best mod for money, its in front of you every time and ya gotta hold the bloody thing to drive the car anyway.
Two hundred bangers well spent, so much so I've had them do my ep3 wheel which is top work by the guys again.
Ive bought all sorts of mods, so getting excited about a steering wheel does sound odd reading this back, haha.

Re: Soooo... I've just got an R3 - advice on next steps!
I love suede/alcantara steering wheels but twice now I've had cars with such wheels go into main dealers for service/repairs and come back with smeared grease on the wheels - that just won't clean off.
There's no excuse for the "technicians" not to protect the wheels but my complaints were dismissed because they were company cars, not owned by me personally.
However, if I paid to had my 8's wheel recovered and some Mazda gorilla left grease on it, I'd be the one going ape.

don't... now I'm thinking... "perhaps I need a spare 'normal' wheel for when she's in the garage..."warpc0il wrote: ↑Fri Dec 21, 2018 1:17 pmI love suede/alcantara steering wheels but twice now I've had cars with such wheels go into main dealers for service/repairs and come back with smeared grease on the wheels - that just won't clean off.

or just buy a couple of wheel covers to put on when going in for servicing... or just never let a dealer monkey touch it again...

Re: Soooo... I've just got an R3 - advice on next steps!
When I got my R3 (03/17), it had 69k on the clock and not a clear history... (Now just about to turn 79k on clock)
Based on BigPete's advice I had the following done:
Installed: RR D585-R coils, 10mm Magnecor leads, NGK Iridium Spark Plugs.
Double engine, gearbox & differential oil change.
I've also in the past few services additionally covered replacement coolant and brake fluid
(along with upgrading to RacingBrake brake line kit)
Compression Test for starting point so you can aim to improve it, if it is needed...
Mine started life with high 5/low 6's (if I recall) and now at high 6 (6.8/9).
I currently have standard discs and Brembo pads... Breaks more than enough for my liking!

Re the oil change: Why a 'Double' ? Is that so that you get a good rince with the first change and know you have a really clean/new oil in the second filling?

You have the badass oil coolers so let’s say you have mby about 6 7 or more L of oil and on a oil change you drain 4.3 roughly so with double you rinse 80precent of the oil or more is a good practice once you get the car to clear the old stuff.
I done double oil change in two days interval first was with out filter on the second I change the filter I run 10w30 oil for rotory engine from mazdarotaryparts

I also misread the original post and though that you were also replacing the oil twice in the gearbox and diff!

Re: Soooo... I've just got an R3 - advice on next steps!
Replacing the gearbox oil twice isn't a bad idea, especially if you know that either the wrong oil was used last time or the oil is well overdue a change, since only about 80% is replaced each time.
The diff is nearer 95%.
