Finally got around to checking if the calipers had been set up correctly.

Thankfully they had been, lower piston pots measured approx 38mm and the upper pots 41mm :thumleft:

One less thing to worry about

Good to hear, fitted my brakes last night but need advice on bleeding, do I only need to bleed from one of the nipples? Or on both sides per side?

Car has been without front for a while but no leakage in fluid, so will I need to bleed tears as well?

Cheers

You will need to bleed rears as well, so take the opportunity to change the brake fluid.calipers both sides.
Good luck mark.

Start furthest away from the master cylinder.

And you'll want to bleed both sides of each front caliper, I remember us having to do that when we fitted them.
To Do List: HKS CAMP2 install; cruise control; new exhaust; detail paintwork, possible respray

Done: Hayward Rotary rebuild and stage 2 port; Racing Beat ARBs, adjustable front droplinks, ram air intake and lightened flywheel; Exedy stage 1 clutch; Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs; Koyo radiator; heated front screen; EBC redstuff pads all round

For the final sequence of bleeding you need to start with the longest run, from the abs unit.

However, if you've just replaced the fronts then do these first to get the majority of air out directly, then do the rears and return to the front to finish.

The early cars also have a nipple on the master cylinder.

Also when bleeding the the 4pot calipers you need to bleed the two bleed valves in a certain order.

Cant remember what order ( think its inside then outside valve) but I'm sure someone will advise shortly

The side away from the incoming pipe first.

Either both together, or the inside, outside, then inside again is the quickest way to purge them.

Lots of air in the system gave up after an hour. Have the car on axle stands but could not get air out. Tightened everything I could think of!

Even when filling up the reservoir I could see air bubbles coming through.

Will get a mech to take a look, thought perhaps the next option is for me to try the master cylinder but could not find the nipple. Fun afternoon though :)

Only the early (pre-2006) cars had a nipple on the master cylinder. Later cars have a different pipework layout and no nipple.

Only way to bleed the mc on the later car is to point the car downhill, press the press and hold then slowly release the pedal.
However this only works as a finishing touch, once you've got nearly enough pedal resistance.
