Winter Projects...
Anyone have any winter projects?
This is my to do list, awaiting delivery on parts:
Mazmart water pump
Lower temp thermostat
Pulley kit
Improving the custom brake ducts i made so it attaches direct to back of disks
removing the heating system
Installing heated front screen
removing anything else behind the dash not needed while it's out for heating removal
Greddy baffled sump
relocate oil temp sensor to sump
repair and relocate oil pressure sensor to banjo bolt for oil cooler feed. (aftermarket oil pressure gauge never worked although it is earthed)
increased oil pressure valve
relocating battery to boot.
Trim excess bodywork if possible to trim even more, inner rear doors etc.
Installing roof scoop (undecided) Not because i'm Paul Walker but because it gets savage hot within the cockpit to a point it's gets close to uncomfortable after a few laps.
Now i've put that list together it looks like i'm taking on more than i realised.
I had a budget i wanted to try stick to, originally i was going to do coilovers over winter so already budgeted for a decent set which was my budget, believe it or not the above list is the cost of a decent set of coilovers. Cooling and reliability took priority, which left me some left for upgrades
Hopefully with the additional weight saving and the slight performance upgrade i should see a noticeable difference. It also ran slightly hot on track so hoping the cooling should be more efficient.
Really wanted to order a ECU and ITB's but.... I am already pushing my luck as it is before getting shot .
I would be interested to see other guys track mods, mine are very DIY. I get some funny looks on the way to track. When at track it fits in, well... better than on the road.

Re: Winter Projects...
My winter projects are mainly what's left of my summer ones...
Replace front fog lamp as it's cracked (cracked lense)
Replace exhaust shroud (melted)
Nexus install
Coolant change, was trying to source a replacement rad drain plug before I risk taking it out....

Re: Winter Projects...
I have a few things that have yet to be finished/started
Polish the headlights as they are def. looking a bit frosty.
Get a mini map to ensure there are no dwell issues before replacing the D585's with the RR coils
Fit the RR coils
Get the Nexus or Raspberry Pi Sat Nav mod finished.
Contemplating the Racing Beat ARB's
RR dual resonated De-Cat still needs fitting.
RR crank pulley needs fitting but that's probably an engine out task.
Fit the PZ shocks and Springs.
Knock down the single garage (crap storage area) and build a 2/3 car garage to replace it.
Wonder how much next years list will resemble this years list!

like the "Knock down the single garage (crap storage area) and build a 2/3 car garage to replace it"
Unfortunately I would need to steal the neighbours drive to do that!

Re: Winter Projects...
We got planning permission on 5th November, after two years, to convert one of our disused outbuildings into a car garage/workshop.
Now struggling to find someone to draw the detailed plans to get the go-ahead from Building Control (unique system in NI) and to enable builders to come up with "quotes" rather than "estimates".
This could take all Winter.
In the meantime, we're running around fixing the indoor water features after the storms over the weekend and last night.

Re: Winter Projects...
Just picked up the bits from the laser cutters to weld up some redesigned front hubs for the buggy, chop the front end off, weld a new one on, fit the new arms and hubs and it can go to the dyno for final mapping:

Re: Winter Projects...
Quite a bit better than the old king-and-linkpin ones it had, where you have to deliberate bolt everything up with a bit of slop in it so it can actually move
These ones are on some huge spherical bearings and misalignment spacers instead. And they're half the weight.

Re: Winter Projects...
Hi all,
I have a rear diff to remove and reseal, a new set of slicks to source and fit, and then i have two new bucket seats to graft in.
Not sure if the seats will be done though before the trackday 'season' starts, they look like a ballache to fit with sidemounts.
Matt

Do headlights as very misty,
Rear end bushes, done 4 out of 14 so far.
paint / refurb brake calipers
rebuild spare engine
fit a catch can when i decide which one to buy
oil, coolant, brake, clutch fluid change
think thats it :/
most these probably wont get done though as it is my daily driver, long work hours and short on expendable cash with crimbo / birthdays
