Re: How many left?
Sadly it's far easier to SORN a car than it is to legitimately scrap it, I tried to do things correctly when disposing my old RX8 but started going round in circles due to the garage not completing the request so just SORN'd it.
Quite a few cars have been shipped to Australia as they already conform and ontop of that the Australian market got lesser spec'd models (only one oil cooler!).
Price seems to be holding up pretty well there

Re: How many left?
you can just write to the dvla and tell them its scrapped. no hassle, done it that way a few times. can do it online yourself now too.

Yet more hurt for taxpayers in plssing up the wall taxes, borrowing or money printing with the resultant inflation (10% inflation is effectively a 2% inflation rate plus a tax of 7%, both reducing £100 to roughly £91 in real terms after a year).Alexpb2401 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 20, 2021 11:17 amhttps://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.dail ... sport.html
This could further reduce the numbers...

Re: How many left?
It's a drop in the ocean compared to the money wasted spent on the measures since March 2020 that cannot be discussed here, regardless of whether they would be effective. That's the primary cause of inflation along with the production stoppages etc. Not the right thread (or forum) to go into detail on it. But this inflation isn't mostly Russia, Brexit or market trends. It's just paying off exactly what a scared public in the Western world largely craved.

Re: How many left?
Hi,
I stumbled across this article a few days ago.
https://www.mazda.com/en/innovation/maz ... y-2021-04/
This seems to suggest that Mazda is pretty commited to keeping the rotary engine alive for older cars. It gives hope we might be able to get engine parts for many years at least. Assuming its true and that Mazda keeps it going. Anyone know of anyone that's ordered anything through this route?

Re: How many left?
Yeah, not an RX7 engine. But my new R3 engine was built on that assembly line last year. Ordered it in September and it was delivered early December. Which is pretty fast.
I don't believe you can order from those folks directly and I wouldn't recommend going through a dealer. Anyone who needs new parts like these should go via Clive at RBE. He took care of it all for me and saved me after the UK dealer network let me down.
It's very cool that Mazda is still making the engines and some other parts.

i've noticed that RBE are doing brand new lights and bumpers for the FD, good to see that the support for "consumable" body components is going.
Thanks, Stu

Shod with the original Bridgestone tyres that show masses of tread - does that mean masses of 18 year old tread?

Re: How many left?
To be fair to the car the paint looks superb and the interior too. The YouTube video on the listing does it much better justice than the weird, filtered photos that make it look like they're trying to hide something. On the surface I think the asking price is brave but worth a try for the seller.
However in the video the car is slow to start, is revved from cold and then shut off. When asked by a YT commenter if they've flooded it the reply was "No, all good!". Which I translate as a panic response.
Just another reminder to buy your rotaries from a specialist rather than Johnny Random.

You're also missing that point as this car is unique in having "Aluminium construction body" - according to the description

I hope it sells at that price - they’ve been undervalued for too long, especially mint like that.

KGF's pricing is always based on think of a number, now double it and wait for someone who's not thinking logically about the purchase.

Re: How many left?
TBF, I've seen a similar one sell for ~£10k, so it's certainly not miles away price wise.
Also the coils should be fine, they've only done 8k miles. They'll be Rev-A I expect, but should be fine at that mileage.

Re: How many left?
Is anyone really impressed that a car that has only covered 8,500 miles has been serviced for 18 years by a Mazda dealer ( trust me I`m a Mazda dealer) so it was only 472 miles pa or possibly "0" miles increase on some services, I bet the owner was their favourite best paying customer.
Motorway for a one owner 2008 40th Anniversary on 30k miles offered me £2,124 and after my other Mazda serviced RX-8`s this one has the added benefit of only been serviced by Mazda until 2014 that`s when I gave up trusting them to do it properly!
