Looking for a 13b 6-port engine

Post by RobinPZ72 »

Hi guys,

After Xmas I'm going to be looking for a engine to play around with! Intentions are a spare to put in my car if needed once I've fanny'ed around with it, so one that's not completely fubar, but standard 231 6-port.

I am a mechanical design engineer with a fair bit of experience in the petrochemical world, but never done a wankle or any combustion engines! Therefore looking to CAD up the engine, which might be helpful at some point to us! Then rebuild it for emergency grafting to me wee car if needed.

I'm as dyslexic as hell, so I may write stuff, which makes no sense to anyone including me, but it make things fun ish.

Cheers

Robin

Ok my idea is basically is to strip it down and draw every component in CAD 2D 1st as a bit of a project to learn the workings of it. Once I'm 100% happy with the regeneration we can use them if need be to get them remanufactured in a std format or tweaked to suit an application!

It's AutoCad i use and not any of the cheap sh*t cad packages out there, so we'll know if the parts needs to be converted from a Dwg to a file format to be CNC for example it will be right.

Any drawings i produced, which will take time will only be available to members of this club and me if a part is donated, but if I buy it well there would be cost to help cover my time etc.

I'm also a bit broken at the moment with my back awaiting scans, so I'm needing something other than house work to keep me going!

Can you scan your back into AutoCAD and get something CNC'd? That'd be the future!
Some R3 oil hose fittings might be worth a shout.

I wish mate! I've had more hits than the Beatles and looks like there all catching up with me with the application of titanium bits!

Hey all I need is either hand markups or a component to work from!

Robin

Scanning produces usually oversized pretty drawing, so it's not good to produce components with them!

I'd be happy to have these included in the Technical FAQ section, which is available to Members Only, as part of our resources library.

You can either send to me via PM or email spindoctor@rx8ownersclub.co.uk

I was thinking just that once we are all happy they are good enough!

Robin

We'd need to come up with an RX8 Owners club drawing border, which sounds daft, but is very important! Also I would need authorisation from the club committee to create a drawing border and drawings under the club's banner!

I thought I'd found the ideal starting point, as this block model says Rotary Engine and is even named "F3D" which looks a bit like "FD3" if you're dyslexic.

Interested in the 56k miler if it's not taken by Robin. In absolutely no rush plus we need to work out how to get it from Newport Pagnell to Cheltenham!

Robin has advised me he is having the total unknown engine therefore if it's still available I will have the other engine.
Now to get the thinking caps on for logistics!

I need to move them on fairly soon as my wife is fed up of seeing them lying about! might be able to meet 1/2 way with them, for a small duel charge. I'll use the V60 it gets 40 odd to the gallon.

How could I possibly refuse that offer? Simple, it's too cheap considering your time and the distance so let's call it £100 all in for the motor and delivery.
I am around next Saturday but not Sunday, unless you want to do a night run during the week to miss traffic.

When we were sliding mine out of Paul’s Volvo down the chipboard ramp as expected the ramp snapped thus speeding up the lowering process. They certainly are heavy old beasts!
