Vaseline won't agree with it if it's rubber. Little bit of silicone lube if you really must but I fit them dry and never had a problem.

It is quite doable without anyrhing on it just be careful not to pinch it,if u got nothing to hand,and hopefully i wont be shot down ,a smidge of baby oil.

obviously experiences friction quite often ,axle grease is good depending on the company.
