Calipers

Post by Phil H »

Unfortunately my hot brake/sticking caliper was not down to seized pins, so had to do something about the caliper. I was fortunate to pick up a second hand pair, that although looking not so good were actually easy to push the pistons back in. So I swapped them over and have just finished giving my originals a bit of a refurb so that I have a spare set.

Stripped them down and vapour blasted them, followed by a primer and top coat of silver, then new pistons and seals.

I am sure others have done this and cannot see any problems as it is only the seals and piston corrosion that causes issues so long as the casting is ok and for the cost of a seal/ piston kit it seems worth doing.
