I don't expect it to be quiet, but after viewing a few videos I think it will be good enough to drive in the city without feeling like a chav in a corsa with fisted exhaust box on the back and throaty enough to enjoy some motorway driving without radio on.

As someone who has run a Cobra for a while with a toyo decat, you won't be getting the desired volume out of it. You'll get an amazing and lovely tone, but it's quite loud.

I was 0.01db under the 100db limit at Castle Combe and hit 102db at Rockingham in a static test. It's louder when on the move as well.

That said, I didn't run it with a cat/ gutted cat so that may soften the volume a touch.

You did quite well there Dan I reckon. Even with the stock back box and just the Toyo mid pipe I'm 96db at 5500rpm and 99db at 6500rpm. (Depending on the tester preference at the track). It was measured at 78db when totally stock.

Maybe some catbacks don't add that much in terms of raw volume? Even if they have a big influence on exhaust note?

Thanks for a bit of info. (:

I guess, if it will be a nice sound, I'll probably overcome that shame of being noisy attention seeker on road. ;D

I also watched Essex Rotary's video about this exhaust (although I found it already after I placed an order) and with stock cat it reaches about 93db at 6500rpm. You can watch it here anyway just to recall good times: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6fU7QUte1c

I think I'll be running stock cat with it. I really liked the way Toyosports catback did sound with stock cat, but at that time I was worried that premixing would kill it quickly. And I wouldn't go back to de-cat, no freaking way. Now, according to my research, if I'll jump over from Castrol to Idemitsu premix, extra clogging should be minimal hence ashless, so I don't think I'll be compaining too much.

Plus, I ordered them with black tips. That's something I was looking for for loooong time. Even done that on my previous car, but it wasn't proper ceramic coating anyway. :D

You're all mis-reading what Duke said - he said mid-pipe, by which I'm presuming he means decat.

stock back box

Comparing it to a toyo cat-back is redundant...

Just to add.. I swapped from Toyo back box to OEM and it's much more civilized, though can understand why that doesn't suit some.
Mind you my Toyo one was absolutely knackered...🙄

Thread revival but... I'm gonna fit my Pettit catback myself now and was thinking of installing a cheap decat as I'm not sure on a decat yet I'm not bothered about the noise more the smell which everyone says is bad, I've never smelt a decat before so that's why I was gonna go cheap in case I don't like it (unless you think this is a bad idea). I was looking at this one on ebay but it says its 3" and tappers to a 2.5" to meet the OEM exhaust and I'm not sure it'll fit the pettit catback? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/351660805050 ... Sw6xZezO4j

Also extra question slightly on topic would pops and bangs affect the OEM cat in a bad way I'd assume so?

Can confirm that the toyo decat pipe fits fine with the pettit if you've had an OEM cat attached to it :) Just be sure to use a decent donut gasket

The majority of aftermarket 3” cutbacks and decats “squeeze” down to 2 1/2” at the joints so that they can be mated to OE sections. This is also the case with tubular manifolds.

I've got on at the moment standard manifold with Toyo Silenced De-Cat and Pettit Cat-Back, I can tell you now its LOUD! Idle sounds good, low rev's decent, but anything on building speed everyone will hear you. Oh, WOT is OMG! Pop's and Bangs without effort, flames, you will get some big one when its hot, lol.

My car is for fun so it doesn't matter for me and I will be changing it very soon, but if you want to use it daily then this is not for you.

Ill try get a few clips, but you will be in for a long wait as its always random should I take it out.

If you do De-Cat it with the Pettit set up, make sure get a proper decent sized silencers, not the tiny silly slim one that the ToyoSports has.

I’ve got standard manifold, RRP single res decat and petitt Catback. So pretty similar to Goobie. And his review and description is bang on. It’s great for summer fun car experience, you wouldn’t daily it. I really would like to see how much tamer the double res is in comparison.

Ill try get a few clips, but you will be in for a long wait as its always random should I take it out.

If you do De-Cat it with the Pettit set up, make sure get a proper decent sized silencers, not the tiny silly slim one that the ToyoSports has.
This video will most likely make you feel dizzy...... Basically, don't use a road legal track car to try do some filming.

Did a good 30 minutes, but all come out to bumpy etc and not idea to catch the sound but this will give you a little bit of a idea. Ill try again with a proper mounted camera with a mic on the outside.
