Bluetooth Stereo?

Post by willberry70 »

Hi Guys,
I've seen this Bluetooth adapter which if it works should let me funnel my phone's music through the very nice sound system on my Kuro.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mazda-Blueto ... %7Ciid%3A1

Trouble is, it needs an aux input on the amp. Does anyone know if the Base amp has an aux input and if it did how would I select it. The stereo has a Tape/MD select button, I'm guessing maybe that can be routed to the Bluetooth adapter?? Any help appreciated.

It does have an aux socket but this was disabled with later firmware revisions in the head unit.

No go on the Aux input then you reckon?

If you search the forum for ‘aux mod’ I’m sure it will throw up the button combination to use on the headunit to check the firmware. I can’t remember off hand.

Doesn't have an aux socket, you may be confusing the aerial socket on the far right.

As above you'll need an auxmod or a parrot kit. There's someone selling one on the forums now. The parrot kit allows you to connect Bluetooth and usb as well as making calls
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Probably ... it was a while ago I spent an evening cutting my hand to ribbons plugging the cable in via the glovebox - I never did find the ‘secret’ bolt in the driver’s footwell to allow the stereo to be removed 🤔

or you could just use the cheap ebay radio units that you tune your fm radio into? they're about a a tenner , admittedly reception / sound quality isn't as good but you can do the handsfree phone thing and stream music through them with no issues

That sounds like a good fit for my level of technical expertise. Didn't know such a thing existed. Cheers.

These work quite well, but if you have a good antenna that picks up loads of radio stations you can be constantly retuning it.
Works great on the other half's beetle as the antenna is sh*t and only picks up BBC Essex, but not so well on my A4 as it seems to pick up every known radio station in the developed world

They all look like the picture above without an aux port, you'll need one of the kits that has been linked by Dave, a parrot kit will work and has an aux input. I have one for sale £120 posted

Sorry for necromancing, but I just started doing my research on AUX/Bluetooth mods for the car. I've watched the Driven by Madness video on the topic, read some threads here and the FAQ. And guess what, my firmware is 10.01...
Does that practically mean I'm screwed? Is there no way of flashing the frimware a couple versions back? There are head units going on ebay dirt cheap but obviously god knows what firmware those have and if they work properly (not to mention my installing skills).
Thanks!

Mine plays happily from a USB stick. As I recall, all the files are just in the root, anyway it plays them fine.

The drives have to be formatted as FAT16, otherwise it can't see anything, so anything over 2BG is wasted.

If you get the chance could you take some pictures of your folder layout, just want to make sure I'm labelling everything correctly, I'm not brilliant with computers. The only option I have is to format to fat32 but the instructions say this is ok

to get the Yator SD card to work you have to lay it out like a CD changer
no more than 6 file folders ( name each one disc 1, disc 2 etc) and no more than 99 files on each
