hmm, been thinking of getting mine done as car feels extremely weird at slow speeds. has anyone got any recommendations to get it done stockport/manchester area? I took my last car to kwik fit and it came back with steering wheel not straight so avoiding them like the plague.

My local tyre fitters suggested a place called 'Ears Motorsport' in Macclesfield, it's opposite the football stadium. Not been yet so no idea what they are like but they were struggling to think of anyone else that did the full set up locally.

How much have people been charged to have this (properly) done, please?

I'm sure some people will argue what properly means (I.e bag of sand in the drivers seat and corner weighted and this and that and it'll take 4 hours to do otherwise it's not 'proper') but typically I get charged about £100 for your basic 4 wheel toe and camber, set as close to my specs as reasonably possible.

Also depends on how badly seized the bolts are - first time I went in to get my alignment tweaked, the mechanics came out and showed me a spanner they'd just folded in half while trying to loosen one of the eccentric bolts.£300 later and the bolts had been freed up, then a further £200 at TDI got me a full alignment setup. Worth every penny.
To Do List: HKS CAMP2 install; cruise control; new exhaust; detail paintwork, possible respray

Done: Hayward Rotary rebuild and stage 2 port; Racing Beat ARBs, adjustable front droplinks, ram air intake and lightened flywheel; Exedy stage 1 clutch; Eibach Pro-Kit lowering springs; Koyo radiator; heated front screen; EBC redstuff pads all round

The above is the reason for inquiring about the cam bolts front and rear. With the Bilstein group buy and inevitable seizing that some will run into, there may be some bolts being drilled out and needing replacement.

I said long ago that it'd be an idea for people to remove their bolts while they can to give them a clean and grease. Forcing a wheel alignment but it's a worthwhile setup to have done for such a good chassis.

There are a series of tables, which give the required dimensions and angles, most of which are dependant on the measured ride-height of your specific car*.

See viewtopic.php?f=58&t=35629
- Workshop Manual
-- SUSPENSION
--- WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Makes sure you're looking at the tables marked "Sports Suspension"

* Walk away from any Alignment Centre that doesn't first measure the ride height and insists that "these are the numbers we use".

ok cool.

If anyone needs them ill post them up.

tbh i think theres a lot more to be gained by setting it up balanced (ie all straight and thrust straight) than worrying about 0.12º of camber for example.

Call me controversial.
But I think that alignment guide is trash, personally.

You can end up with half a degree toe in at the front, and toe OUT at the back, and it'll tick all the boxes.
Give me a break. No one wants to drive a car setup like that.

You are absolutely correct of course Nick :thumleft:
That is not a set up sheet but a perameter sheet telling you the max and min permissible in their oppinion.
As we all know a max in one area and a min in others could be very bad for handling characteristics.
Best thing is to take the settings you want with you and say do this.
