subframe rust how to treat

Anybody heard of this company or this product?

They have a branch near mine, but I sort of wonder how good this may be for 40 quid...I asked their customer service, this is what they came back with:

"The product we use acts as a sealant to protect the major componants under your vehicle from the weather and corrosions. It helps maintain the longevity of the vehicles current state and prevents further problems from occurring. We would clean down the underneath if necessary before hand"

It probably does sound too cheap to expect a full deep clean and anti-rust agent from that, right?

What else can you get from a garage for £40 at their labour rates!? Set of wiper blades fitted maybe?
I'm sure it's better than spraying the car with salt for £40 but given the cost of repairs if it's not done properly, either do it well or buy a bottle of gin with the money instead.

I would be wary of this as they say "acts as a sealant" which in my head says it would also seal in any existing moisture and not penetrate and kill any existing rust. Probably just a coating of black tar like grunge.

Like engine rebuilds, we all (should) know by now how much just the parts cost for a decent build, yet there are companies selling rebuilds for less than that, and I doubt they're saving money by not paying themselves a wage.

They might do more thorough treatments but it won't be anywhere near £40 I'm sure of it.

Thanks chaps, I'll check out the one in Harlow, it's down the road from mine. I also got a quote from Waxoyl official treatment providers, £495 for the car to be "cleaned, dried and prepared prior to its treatment which includes the removal of loose rust" which is an okay price and they have plenty of service places. My car will be garaged from November so will have time to save up a bit for when she comes out in the spring.

Main thing to do to prevent rust is undo the sill protector rubber strip and take out the grunge accumulation that builds up.
I'd be wary if cheap undercoatings, some can do more harm than good.

morning all ,i would be very wary of trusting anyone to rust remedy my car.in my experience it is so easy to do what looks like a good job very easily and cheaply .the trouble is that most products are thick stuff ,usually black that can be applied very quickly with a spray gun thus obliterating any dodgy prep work. the average punter would only see an even surface that looks thorough and stinks of solvent,giving the impression of a good job. the trouble with rust is that the parts you see are not a problem,its the bits you cant that will knacker your car.

This us why I am attracted to the Krown process where it's a clear fluid which is used for the internal and external surfaces. Plus it's not hugely expensive.

good point chris,my point was that unless you witness it being done you would have no idea of how thorough the job is. in my job as a carpenter i have witnessed so called timber treatment specialists who deliberately use coloured pungent fluids and simply smother visible timbers that are then seen by the customer who believes he has had a thorough job.the bits that are not readily accessible to the customer are left untreated and cause problems in the future exactly as your car would.

Do you happen to have a ballpark quote? I can't really see any indication on their website.

None of which is a good indication.

Oh, and in answer to you pricing question, they charge £252 to treat an MX5.

So based on the MX5 quote it may be around 300-350...plus the trek to Wolverhampton, so it would pretty much equal the 495 that I was quoted for Waxoyl. Would probably come down to which process is better. For me at least.

Phosphoric Acid to treat the rust, and then either dinitrol or rustbuster to protect and stop any further rust.
