Re: Recall for software, plugs and oil cooler lines

Post by Bex » Mon Jun 04, 2018 9:45 am

I have been dreading this day for weeks.

Due to Mazda telling me I have about 5 outstanding recalls on my car I was told the car needed to be booked in with a few days extra time in case it overruns. Which meant I booked it in about 3 weeks ago so that Mazda had enough time to get organised,
There’s no local Mazda to myself so I picked one near sams work thinking he could drop it off and have someone he knows give him a lift.

Today Sam drove my car to the dealership before going to work, when he turned up , they tell him it’s not on their system and he eventually gets sent away. Once he was at work we look into what’s gone wrong, I have the dealership details, numbers, confirmation email for my car all saying it’s been booked in. I have just called Mazda back who instantly said I don’t know what’s happened, though they remember talking to Sam, And they can now see it’s booked in, so they apologies.

This has cause a bit of hassle as I’m miles away with sams car on the drive , sams now at work with my car in the carpark, his lift is at their work and we have no convinent way to get my car to them. They have said they will come out and collect the car.

So I’m currently waiting on Mazda to turn up to Sam's work and drive my rx8 back to the dealership to have this recall work done..

If anyone sees a purple rx8 with skulls on it being driven like it’s stolen through Guildford in the next couple of hours - let me know.

(I’m joking...
.... well i really hope im joking! )

Here’s hoping they drive it nicely. I’m so nervous. They have confirmed due to them not being able to use a computer to find my car details on a Monday morning that it’s definitly not gonna be sorted today , and possibly even running into a third day if it’s needed for this recall. They will keep me informed.

They have my car now.
They turned up in another rx8 to collect mine and told Sam not to worry as they are use to working on these and have dealt with them often, and have a few at the dealership, so that was some relief. Think I have pestered them enough today, I we will see if I put the lack of organisational skills down to it being a Monday morning when I get the car back. Hopefully it all goes smoothly, Over the phone they are seeming friendly and helpful and have given me good info about what they plan to do. Looking forward to getting my car back. :)

Got my letter through also for the fuel tank, though I am absolutely dubious about leaving my pride and joy with the not so local dealers, so totally relate to every ones reluctance.

I could do it myself, but am aware of issues with insurance etc should anything happen :-k [-o<

Mazda just called me to say my cars ready to be collected. I wasn’t expecting a phone call today at all After the confusion this morning. They have done well getting it sorted in a day, especially as it wasn’t in the shop till later in the morning and they have prewarned me multiple times it would be possibly longer. Sams gonna get more info when he picks it up on what has been done.
I’m quite impressed to get that phone call though.

So glad, from reading the horror stories here, that my local Mazda dealership was really good. Lots of RX8s there when I dropped mine off as few weeks ago, which relaxed me. Would recommend them - TW White Bookham

TW Whites are (were) RX8 specialists, they even imported JDM models with features that we didn't get e.g. auto 'boxes .

Recall, for airbag and fuel tank.
Just had my 231 recall work done by EMG Cambridge. Really impressed. Knew what the problem was. Had the parts ready. Free car valet. Car ready 5/hours later.
What’s not to like 😁😁😁😁

Anyone even to mazda Stockport? Rrg group. Have service a call other day and they had to get back to me about what recalls where due. Cars not on road yet so not in a rush to get it done. They did say they would need it all day and less than 1/4 tank of fuel

Mine is due in next Thursday, last month was booked in, eve before phoned to say parts not in! Now I still have over a half a tank left of fuel more like 3/4 i bet. Now as its my second transport and for fun hardly used like, it seems mad they can't drain or pump out some fuel as needed and refill after.

So I am likely to cancel, at the price it is to don't really want to just drive for the hell of it.

The dealer I went to said they can pump it out/drain It, but it's a ballache and it's far easier with a low level in the tank.

Easiest way, pick up the phone and ring your nearest Mazda dealer, who can check from the registration number (or VIN if your car was ever registered with a private plate)

or check the link from the MOT website
https://www.gov.uk/check-mot-history

or PM me your VIN and I can check the Mazda database

Mazda Southend that did mine were actually faultless. So much so I wondered if they actually did anything! But I think I can see some dusty marks on the rear seat which i believe they have to remove for the fuel recall (nothing to complain about) so assume it was all done. Very quick efficient and easy. Plus there was another RX in the car park which seemed to be an employee's car giving me confidence.

Mine is finally sorted. They came out to fix it on my drive as the guy who came to collected it decided it was too dangerous to drive. Leak free now.

Although it was a major hassle and the dealer was absolutely useless I'd really recommend getting it done anyway. It is a safety issue after all and not getting it done because it's painful dealing with these idiots is an extremely poor decision. At the very least get a garage you trust to do the work at your expense. Petrol leaks are not something you want to take a chance on. With the benefit of hindsight I'd have got the bits and done it myself.
I can't quite believe this but mine is leaking again and in the same place. I'm supposed to be doing a track day in it on Saturday and I'm [edited] livid. That's twice this repair has put me at risk.

I've emailed them (and cc'd mazda customer services) and will call them in the morning. If they don't sort it this time tomorrow I'm going to ask Haywards to sort it out for me properly and them I'm taking the incompetent morons to court.

By the way - Newbury Mazda, avoid like the bloody plague.

So we are now being put into the position that after the pump repair at some later date the pump may start to leak that is unacceptable!

It is a ridiculous situation that after the repair an owner should fill the tank to see if a leak has now been created surely the dealer should be doing that not waiting to see if an owners car catches fire!

Why is it that if I put my car into a Mazda dealer or in fact any Garage anywhere because of a potential serious fault of a leak in that pump would they take the pump apart and fit parts, absolutely not it would be a complete replacement pump so why do we have to accept such a shoddy repair from Mazda UK?

Had mine done Thursday, as Landsown Mazda Bath, after booking in a few months ago phoned eve before to say parts not in. Service guy said oh they are good at sending out letters but never enough parts for these recalls! All done in about 3 hours, seems ok, smell of petrol first but not day after, nice petrol soaked blue roll left on the floor of car! lifted seat it all looks good and very clean under there. Did fill near to top so will drive to work tomorrow and see how it is.
Got a Mazda 2 i think it was as a loan car, was ok but think they would like say oh want to try an Mx5 or Cx5 etc!
No charge for loan car either.
