Re: What Exhaust?
Thank you for the comments about the Racing Beat Exhaust System .
Like all Racing Beat Products they are backed with over 45 years of Rotary development experience and they know how to make Rotary systems that really are fit and forget and that "perform".
Buy a Revi 8 cat back and it will not only fit perfectly every time, but also due to many hours of Dyno development will flow properly.
Unlike many others, Racing Beat also know how to control the pitch of a Rotary so you wont find yourself annoying your neighbours or annoying yourself with drone on the Motorway plus unlike many you will never get kicked off track for exceeding noise limits, but accelerate and you will love the glorious sound of your unleashed RX-8
As people have said, you get what you pay for and RX8OC members also get these cheaper with their club discount.
Don't forget as well as the duel outlet, there is also the RX-8 Racing Beat REV8 Twin Outlet Exhaust System for 2008-2011 R3 model
(these will also fit a Series 1 with mods to the shrouds)
The exhaust below and many more can be found on the link below.

Re: What Exhaust?
Fitted an HKS Legamax cat back (without cat) and it was incredibly loud. Measured 110db on my ebay meter (standard was 91db!). Took it off after a week and sold it for what I paid. Good experiment but was v loud in the car with no interior and was too loud for track days.
Now have a racing beat cat back (again without the cat) and it sounds great and is no where near as loud. Highly recommended, especially if you get the chance to buy I 2nd hand one as I did. Don't know how loud it it but it closer to standard than to the HKS. Will measure at some point but not concerned about getting on at track days.

Re: What Exhaust?
Mine runs full bridge, Racing Beat modified header, Racing Beat resonated de-cat, Racing Beat cat back and measures only a couple of decibels above a stock RX8 and always wihin track sound limits.
Now a distant memory unfortunately.

Re: What Exhaust?
One of the problems is being the driver Huw I only get to hear the exhaust from inside the car and not on a drive by.
Now a distant memory unfortunately.

You should have said - I'd have been happy to 'help' at Mallory Park by taking your car out for a session while your ears enjoyed the full benefits.

I know it would be a major challenge but I would love to see a video all the possible combinations of exhaust in semi controlled conditions to compare them

That’s a lot of exhaust videos. Any Milltek ones in there? I might just listen to them all anyway!

Re: What Exhaust?
I have Goobie's exhaust on my car now (thanks mate)! As said by others this exhaust sounds fantastic! Not overly loud or drony when cruising but when you floor it, it comes alive, just a deep aggressive tone When light throttling its not that much louder than standard, more of a sporty tone i guessGoobie wrote: ↑Wed Apr 25, 2018 5:40 pmI might actually be selling mine if your interested? It will only be because I’m considering buying the same again but brand new because I’m tart.
May include my ToyoSports de cat too, so if your woundering what it will sound like on yours, it will be pretty the same as my clip but bare in mind I have a different Manifold.
I have the RB dual resonated decat which i think it needs or something similar to sound good without being anti social.

Re: Which Exhaust?
I can confirm the Milltek catback plus high flow cat is stunning! It sounds amazing. Not much louder than stock when driven normally and when you put your foot down it really opens up!

I have the Milltek with original cat. How much extra sound improvement would I get do you think if I replaced it with a high flow cat or de-cat?

Re: Which Exhaust?
It does make a noticeable difference, I had a standard cat with mine initially and added the hi-flow cat section. Whilst it is even louder now, it is not anti-social level loud.

I did the same and the hi-flow adds more 'body' to the sound of the catback.
