Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
Great buy here:
There is a deal of the day (7 hours to go at the time of writing) plus 15% off the ORIGINAL price which brings this to just under £60. I like Tacklife stuff and have a few of their tools. No, they're not Makita/Milwaukee but they're also not those price.
Under £60 for an impact driver and Amazon's no quibble guarantee - order has just been placed.

Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
I'm using chrome and it displays fine for me.
Longshot, are you somehow viewing the forum via a http:// rather than the secure https:// url?
I'm not sure if that's even possible, but could be an explanation?

Told Mrs Smutty about the impact driver purchase. She's decided to intercept the Amazon delivery driver, confiscate the item and wrap it up for my birthday.
My birthday isn't until the middle of March.

Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
I use this stuff all the time, it’s like Duck Oil and I spray my coil overs all over and it stops the threads seizing and the bodies corroding. It does however gather muck and they look shabby after a while but they clean very easily. It penetrates well and the waxy film left after “drying” is all but invisible.SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Fri Jan 08, 2021 5:26 pmNot really a tool, but a product to solve a problem all the same.
The wheel nuts on my car have begun to rust and I have ordered replacements, along with a polycarbonate socket. I was thinking of getting some of this:
Screenshot 2021-01-08 at 17.22.50.png
And squirting some on my nuts to stop the rust. Has anyone used this? And does it dry clear?
Sprayed on rust patches under the car, suspension arms etc; it will stop corrosion and make them look better.
I wouldn’t use it in the wheel nuts though due to the dirt collecting factor, better to use a ceramic paint protector on them probably.

Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
Ah, thank you. I did read somewhere that it could be sprayed on and buffed which I had hoped would help reduce the likelihood of grot sticking. I bought the aerosol spray can for a finer film but haven't used it because I had planned to do the tyre valves first and then spray valves and nuts.
More thinking to do.
I will Vactan rusty nuts around the cars (strut bolts etc) when it is warm and then coat with this when dry.

I don’t think Vactan has any particular penetrating properties so my suggestion regarding the rusty nuts would be to just spray with the XCP at each service.

Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
My thinking behind the Vactan was partly to change the look of the finish - away from rusty brown and back to black - and then using the XCP as a sealant.ChrisHolmes wrote: ↑Fri Jan 15, 2021 11:22 amI don’t think Vactan has any particular penetrating properties so my suggestion regarding the rusty nuts would be to just spray with the XCP at each service.

Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
That's kinda unique... I reckon there are probably better ways like getting a set of screwdriver bits for a standard socket set I think the main advantage to these over sockets is that these are very thin I think it's in the pile of tools where they're damn useful when you need them, and then they don't get used for a long while

Amazon refusing to deliver to Northern Ireland, despite there being no restrictions currently in place.
They're just trying to put pressure on the politicians.

Re: Tools, tools, tools (was Thumb Ratchets)
I saw this because I am struggling to fully seat the screws in the aluminium V on the front of the 192. I've got a mini ratchet but it is still too big and at the wrong angle. I've not bought these tools but love a gadget!
What I have bought and has been delivered is this:
The 192 is ceramic coated and after the snow and ice it is grim. I am waiting until early next week to wash it because it is flipping cold. Then I can give this blower a welly.

2021 unfunny joke: When is a part of the UK not part of the UK? When it is Northern Ireland.
I keep saying that the government wouldn't let this happen to Kent. So why are they letting it happen to NI?

I thoroughly recommend the Wera bit check ratchet zyklop mini thingy for this application. It's got me out of a few troublesome spots many a time.SmuttyHutty wrote: ↑Sat Feb 13, 2021 1:17 pmI saw this because I am struggling to fully seat the screws in the aluminium V on the front of the 192.
