Engine Survey
You are allowed to vote up to three times for those that have had more than one rebuild but can you post in the thread if you've had more than one with the reason.
E.G. In my case it was Romford Mazda cocked the first one up royally.
If you haven't had a rebuild can you please post your current mileage in the thread.
I am going to try and keep this post updated with the average figures.
57K mileage for cars that have been rebuilt. Engine cost per mile 3.87p (just to put it in perspective )
53K overall engine longevity.

Engine Survey
110k no rebuild that I know of. Full service history gives no details of engine replacement and I've owned the car from 72k. Compression test from a week or so ago, normalised results:

Wow, that's very good for the mileage. Does this car typically do longer journeys? What is your maintenance schedule like?
There is an RX-8 on rx8club.com that has over 260,000 on the original engine and it still runs just fine but I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he has like a 80-90 mile commute each day on the highway (40-45 miles one way) and the service intervals in the US are about half of what they are in the UK in the Mazda service manual. Basically, the rotary engine benefits from getting properly warmed up and likes the motorway more than short journeys that include a lot of stop and go.

My first was at 63k (MX5 Motors and Rotors) , with a subsequent rebuild 18k later (Rotary Revs)
Needless to say, the first rebuild was a poor job with several re-used parts that were not up to the task. Not only that, it was more expensive than the second rebuild, which pretty much amounted to a new engine !

No rebuild at 55k. SOHN adaptor fitted when I got it at 48k. No issues just pure sweet rotary power.
