Hi and Thanks for the welcome,

I wasn't sure where I stood taking it to someone other than a main dealer due to the warrant that's currently on the car, I bought the R3 from Tw and to be honest haven't been that impressed with the standard of service.

I'd rather have it worked on by someone who knows there stuff rather than being churned out by a standard trained Mech!

Thanks for your tips I'll give those guys a call.

Sc
Cheers!!!

R3, Sparkling Black, interiors been given a little more leather to cover the naked plastic Bits!!! Rear window and quarter lights Tinted... Recent Mop, Polish and Superguard, Regularly treated with 100% carnauba Wax! Due a calliper re-paint, she gets more attention than the Mrs!!

Well nearly!!! Lol

Their service department is reportedly a lot better than their sales department.

Sounds like you're just round the corner from Essex Rotary. :thumleft:

Hi Guys,

I've got my 4th Year Serivce coming up in a few months for my R3. Would it better going to Hurley Rotary in Coventry or a Mazda Dealer? Cars only done around 14K Miles so it shouldnt cost more than £150-£200.

Both are probably the same distance from where i live.

I would go to Hurley - I don't know if they can do the bodywork checks for the corrosion warranty bit, but they should be able to update the Mazda digital service record database thing.

Not much changed, quite a lot inspected (the schedule is here so you can see for yourself http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... 25&t=35688 ). Are you providing the oil etc?

Thanks for the schedule. Not supplying oil. That price was masters at Bromley.
I called TW whites but they were busy :? and were supposed to call me back.....but didn't. I'll see if they call tomorrow, they generally seem to be quite pricy.

I just checked my invoice from last year (with Masters for the 8th service too) and taking away the other bits (MOT, regas aircon etc) that I had done, your quote is a bit more than I paid, but I supplied the oil and that did save roughly the difference between your quote and my price.

Just phoned TW whites, got an eye watering price of £390, MOT £54.85.
Masters said they would do my MOT for £30 if I booked a service.
How can places vary so much!?
Looks like I'll be off to Masers again.

Just had my 6th yr service done at Guildford mazda, I think a fair price £224. The also pointed out some problems that I was aware of and some that I wasn't. All in all very happy with the service. (That price may not be representative however as I had to replace the cat and coils last year and have done 22k so far)

Spoke to Marchargs in Glasgow today to get some servicing costs, but also to find out about a proper compression test. No concerns as to how the car is starting but want to know what its like seeing as I just bought it. Normal charge, they said, is two hours labour (£85 per hour!), but if I had an oil change they'd do it for an hour and a half. Sure they are trying to take my pants down!

I've seen Mazda quote £180 for a compression test, so £85 is about average for a main dealer.

Does anyone ever go to an independent garage? Or is it more that you would not trust them to service a rotary?

For straightforward services, oil changes etc there shouldn't be a problem (make sure they know not to shut it down cold and flood it). Ideally you would have a rotary specialist nearby http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... 25&t=36531 (it is about 20 miles to Essex Rotary from my bit of Surrey - I think they are the nearest ... where are you?).

Essex Rotary will almost certainly be better experienced with rotaries than a Mazda Dealer.

Hi guys, I'm looking at an RX8 to buy, it's a PZ model post 06 so Mazda hold any dealer service history electronically.

The owner of the car I'm looking at doesnt have a copy of this, can I phone up Mazda and confirm the history directly with them?

You can, it may also be worth calling some of the independents since a lot have access to the Mazda DSR too.
