Hypo: quote removed, the previous message is ^^^^

aw hey that's sad. sorry to hear you're having such a bad experience. when you say "this dealer" do you mean the one i just posted about? or another one?

buying a bike? hmmm... perhaps you are just unlucky because it was one of the earlier cars. maybe it would be better for you to just sell this one and buy yourself a new one :D

hope you get your problems sorted soon...

Just booked mine in for its first service at MKG3000 for which I was quoted £155. Seems a little high compared to others here. Anyone else had theirs serviced recently from MKG? I don't really want to go to anywhere else since the car was purchased from them and I have been very happy with the garage on some minor issues which they have resolved. (TW White is actually walking distance from my house and would save fuel! )

£537 6th service

Post by jam_3002000 »

edit: subject - £537 6th service

Help anyone,
how can i get it cheaper?

It is now out of its 3 year warranty, and has done 72K

I have an excellent local (non mazda) dealer, who would be able to do plugs etc.

What are the things i should get the Mazda Dealer to do?

Any thoughts?

I think the simple answer is, look at the service schedule and see what other items would be covered at each service interval. I must confess, as the rex is somewhat diffrenet to regular cars, I'd be a little nervous that your dealer around the corner wouldn't know whats what with an 8.

Providing own oil for 4th service

Post by nilitara »

Hi
I contacted my local dealer today, Donalds, Bury St Edmunds for a price of a 4th year service. They quoted £288, does anyone think this is overpriced?

I said i would supply my own oil as i purchased 10ltrs sometime ago of the oilman. They said they would deduct £7.00 off per litre i supplied, but only if it was their own Mazda standard grade.

As i have Fuchs as recommended by many people on the forums, i would like any advice as to where to go next. has anybody else been in this situation? any help appreciated

£288 is about right for a service. As for the oil I'm not sure, to be honest since the car uses enough oil to ensure that all the oil in the sump is changed within the standard service interval I wouldn't worry.

£7 off per litre supplied? So, assuming they use 4 litres (rounding up here - 3.5 is all is required for oil change, IIRC), you'll save £28. Not bad at all. I was given £35 off for supplying my own oil at last service (Fuchs also).

Post by MazdaRX8 »

Good morning chaps

Im selling the Rex :( withing the next couple of months and it is due its service now......Mazda have quoted me £320 for a full service and change of spark plugs......now for a full service i could go to North Eastern and for the same it would be £177......Am i best off going to mada tho just to keep the 100% mazda service record or wouldnt it matter??

It depends on how old the car is I would say? It will also effect any out of warrenty "good will" payments from Mazda if there's any issues at a later date. Also, given the choice, would you buy a non Mazda history over a full Mazda history?

MazdaRX8 ring Turnbulls York, ask for Barrie and see if he can give you a discounted manu service - tell him Paul from Belfast recommended him. You might get a parts/ labour discount, and they do a great job and know the car inside out.

I'd get it serviced at Mazda as it'll sell better with a "Full Mazda Service History" and if it was me buying it I'd what either a FMSH or it having been service by a rotary specialist due to the rotary engine but then that might just be me  .

I have just arranged my 50000 service with a local TVR specialist on my industrial estate. Hes prepared to do it for £ 45 which is basically 1 1/2" hrs labour and free issue parts from the extremely cheap motor factors also on the estate.

My problem is i bought the car at 43000 and it was an ex lease car with full service package but had never had its 37000 done so the dealer i got it from ( a main dealer but not mazda) did the 37000 FOC. SO in that respect my FMSH is screwed anyway.

Looking at it from that respect i dont think paying £ 45 for a TVR stamp is a bad deal, its not a Mazda stamp but as far as impressions go its not a bad runner up.

well, its not £45, but Robinsons Leicester just quoted £237 for my 4th/50k service so we shall see how they do.
they wouldnt knock anything off cos they are doing the oil cooler pipes recall at the same time, even tho i asked for the oil price to be taken off!! no matter, i figured that 237 was cheaper than other quotes i have seen and i get a free courtesy car...

just to follow up - very happy with the service overall. ok, they make you take their insurance for the loan car and leave your car wet after washing it (water marks lol  ) but the price was good (£248 all in) and, since they didnt have any cooler pipes left in stock, they have booked it in next week for the pipes and arches to be sealed (recent recalls) as well as taking photos of the spots of corrosion on the sills. plus, i dont get charged for the loan car's insurance this time lol
will do a better write up when i have joined the club and seen them next week

That's steep!

I had my 4th service just after Christmas at Essex Mazda -I know! I know! - and the charge was £225. They also replaced the oil pipes and repaired a slow puncture, rotated the tyres and gave the car a really good valet (in fact I haven't washed the car since and it's still pretty clean and shiny) both inside and out. :D

I will wait a couple of days for the service manager to get back to me, see what he says.
But looking at what others on here have been paying I have been shafted big time. Is there anything I can do about it? Are the servicing charges set by Mazda Uk or is it my fault for not asking first?
They did change the oil pipes but want it to go in again for sealant to be applied to wheel arches?
