Does anyone know a good Rotary/RX8 specialist in the Watford area?
I have a 54 plate so no point in going with the local dealer, also heard some nasty stories about them.

Any help please. The Net is throwing up nought :(

I've used [urlw=http://www.roychapman.com/]Roy Chapman[/urlw] in Berkhamsted for the last few years and found them to be pretty good for a main dealer.
You've also got [urlw=http://www.pettitracing.co.uk/]Pettit Racing in Ware[/urlw] who are closer than Project RX8.

Hmm - my 6th service is due next month. Asked Godfreys of Horsham how much its likely to cost and around £400 was the response.

I'll get a 20% discount anyway as I bought the car from them so around £320.

They are happy to let me bring some of my own parts and I was thinking of getting some bits from MRP for the service - particularly the spark plugs where Godfreys want more than £40 each !

Any thoughts on these hotter plugs from MRP where I can get a full set for £100 ?

Just been quoted £534.22 inc vat for a 6 year service at the dealers in Manchester.
Anyone got a recent quote from elsewhere that they could send me?
Apparently they'll price match other garages.

Just phone all your local dealers get the lowest quote then tell the dealer you want to use and ask if they will match/beat it.

Ask what the price is if you supply your own plugs and oil (and whatever else might be done at the 6 year service like filters etc if you want to get them too)? You can get a 5 litre bottle of 10w40 for about £20 (will save you anything from £30 to £70 on what the dealer will charge for 3½ litres of 5w30) and plugs from MRP for a lot less than Mazda will charge.

Just a quick one hopefully.

Is there a standard service list about anywhere on the site?

As im still only a prospective buyer id like to make sure that any services carried out have been full. And if not use it as a way to wangle some money off the car.

Thanks

Does anyone ever take their car to be serviced by a non- Mazda garage? I did this last year which would have been the year 6 service. Thinking it is best to take it back to Mazda this year.

Brilliant, Thanks!

I notice the coils are'nt part of the service? only plugs at 37k

Ive heard it mentioned its a good idea to change these around the 37k mark as engine failures have been attributed to failed coils. Any reason its not part of the service?? seems to me like it should be!.

The recommended replacement is at 30k. So your a bit over due. I would suggest you join the club and enjoy the discount you can get from traders on here who will supply you with genuine parts (very important!)

As to why they aren't included in a service... We are not sure if Mazda realise that they fail and if they know now, they aren't admitting it. Either way, replace @ 30k for peace of mind and reliability.

Still a prospective rex owner unfortunately, but should/when i take the plunge ill certainly be joining up.

Cheers for the info. Im off to test drive a 2007 192 with 37.5k on the clock tomorrow and just preparing some amunition to throw at the dealer should i get tempted to put some money down on it.

It took me all of a day readong on the forum to realise that the coils need to be changed. Id be very suprised Mazda dont know about the issue.

OK, good luck on your search. Rule No.1 as I'm sure you know and has been mentioned 1000 times. "Get a hot compression test carried out before handing over any cash" :)

Just got a quote for my 4th service of the R3.

TW whites & son quoted me £ 289 this included the 15% loyalty discount.

I did get a quote with me providing my own parts but it still worked out cheaper if they provide the parts and means less hassle for me to order the bits.

Is this a fair quote for the 4th service????

You'll struggle to get it for less round this way from a main dealer - especially if it works out cheaper than if you were providing your own oil etc.

Hi all my first post!!

Tw White initially quoted me £260 for the 4th year service on my R3 then dropped it to £205 when I mentioned the distance I was travelling, The Dealer at Lakeside (Essex) quoted me £161 for the same service!! Guess where I'm going!!!

Tw called and asked If I wanted to book my service, having explained the above I was offered a call from the service manager in-order to see what he could do!! I told them not to bother they should have offered me the best price available first time round!! Taking the p*** I think.
Cheers!!!

Sc

R3, Sparkling Black, interiors been given a little more leather to cover the naked plastic Bits!!! Rear window and quarter lights Tinted... Recent Mop, Polish and Superguard, Regularly treated with 100% carnauba Wax! Due a calliper re-paint, she gets more attention than the Mrs!!

Well nearly!!! Lol

Hi and :welcome: Sc423670. :D I don't know about the Lakeside dealer or how good they are, but TW Whites is a main dealer who have a better reputation for actually knowing about RX-8s and doing a proper service than many other main dealers.

Where are you - have you considered going to a specialist for your service as they normally charge less than the main dealers? If you are in Essex both Project RX8 and Essex Rotary now have access to Mazda's database so taking the car to them would maintain the service history.
There is a list of specialists here http://www.rx8ownersclub.co.uk/forum/vi ... 25&t=36531
