5th Year 60k service - £146 plus £50odd quid for MOT from Mazda in Hexham, includes parts and labour. It' still under warranty from when I bought it so fingers cost this shouldn't cost much more than the normal service fee.

Got my 4 year service at MKG3000 this Saturday. Spoke to the chap on the phone who knew about the 10% member discount :)

Will let you know how it goes, just over 46k miles on the clock so hopefully nothing big.

3rd Year Service

Post by Sykobabble »

Hi,

What would I be expected to pay for a third year service? Car has done 24,000 miles.
The guy at the Mazda dealer said it would be a minimum of £350 and said the plugs would need changing.

Cheers

If you supply own oil, plugs and air filter you can reduce that by about £80 or more.

Don't forget there will be £50 or so for Mot as well.

I'm in same position but not until next year, service, £400 tax and prob take out extended warranty at around £750 for another 2 years, bye bye grand and a half....... oouch.

The price you pay for love

Thanks for the pointers!

OK.... I'll lay it on the line here.
I'm really struggling to make my mind up about buying my 1st RX8.

What's a fair price for the following?

06 '231' Registered end of May 06
Full black leather
23,000 miles
Due its third service
Due an MOT
Really good condition inside and out, apart from the alloys starting to rust (warranty??)

Come on guys help me out with this..... Cheers!

Re: 3rd Year Service

Is it private sale or trade ? only reason ask is if its trade haggle to get the service and Mot done.

If it has full Mazda history, (you can check as all service records are held digitaly by Mazda) consider an extended warranty as cheaper if just comming up to 3 years old rather than taking it out after the 3 years.

Also consider that the car is registered after March 26th 2006 so tax will be £405 as well.

Price wise it books dealer around £10,200, some dealers have them around £12,000 down to around £8500 private according to Parkers but either way haggle as end of 3rd year is damn expensive.

Re: 3rd Year Service

Thanks Knighty.... Its a trade sale

I'll try and get the MOT done but reading between the lines its going to cost me the following.

9K for the car
£400 for the 3rd service
£750 for a 2 year extension on the warranty (is this worth £750?)

In total the cars going to stand me at just over 10K

Do you think thats a god price? Or should I go for an older car, say about 6K on a 03 plate?

Cheers

4th Service - Schedule?

Post by Dubsey »

Hi all,

She has now done circa 36k and is in need of a service. I have called round most of the dealers here in Ireland to get a quote and also a price for break pads (she needs them). The problem is that I havent received a quote less than €750 from any dealer other than one which is 100 miles away. I don't have an English owners manual (Jap import) so I don't know what is supposed to be carried out at each service.

I called a guy I know in Dublin who deals alot with imports and he has said that he would do it for €400 including the brakes. I am very tempted but want to know that he carries out the full service. Ideally I would like a Mazda dealer to service her but they seem a rip off and the FMSH has gone out the window given her geographical history.

What does the owners manual say is done for the 4th year service please?

Thanks!

Hi, my 4th service is being done this month and as Knighty has said, the 4th service isn't that big, it's the 3rd service that is the big one. But then again any service can be big if anything needs doing. My 3rd service was about £700 as I needed break pads as well. So I'm hoping this one isn't that much plus she's having her MOT as well. :pale:
Titanium Grey, bling wheels (set number 6) Now gone but will never be forgotten, sat nav, I-mob tracking, SS Strakes, full set of RB grills, K&N Filter and Borla zorst. Now lowered.

Just ask me where anything is, it will be in the boot!!

Now she's "the reasonably priced car is the star" as driven by Jason Plato on Fifth Gear. :notworthy:

Had my 4 year service last weekend at MKG3000. Cost me £460 but this included new spark plugs which were missed in the third service and a few other little bits.

Have to say the service was exceptional.

I just got quoted £150 from Magna Poole  That was supplying own oil though (engine and gearbox), you the same? If not I'll be arguing! They also said they did a 10% discount for the MX-5 OC, said they'd 'look at it' for the RX-8 (I intend telling whoever's on the desk they agreed to it on the phone). No-one seems to have used them before on here, tho it's sister in Bitterne has an okay review. Wanted to try Ashford Orbital back home, but being stuck at work needs must I use one I'll probably never use again!

beat me by £6!

no i wasnt planning on supplying my own oils but now that you mention it, i do have 20litres of Fuches going spare. How much are you giving them out of interest? also what quantity of gear box oil and how much did it cost?

I forgot to ask about OC discount but will mention it before i get the service done :D

Hmm, well I thought the quote he gave me had the oil knocked off it, I shall be querying this! 5l of oil is enough for the engine, and 1.7l needed for gearbox...I bought Silkolene Syn5 from Opie when I ordered my first lot of engine oil, was quite expensive by comparison, around £10/l if I remember rightly.

When i had my service i lugged along my 20 ltr tub of Fuchs in the boot (on a dust sheet, fits nicely in the well of the boot) and they were happy with that.
